The weather was rather poor, so I probably overprocessed these shots. But I like them, they make me feel like flying, without the risk. :)
The patches are from the sun battling its way through the clouds.

I'm trying to catch up on my 365....I didn't post anything yesterday (just too busy!), so this is for yesterday and I'll post another one later today.
I took this at Quail Gardens, a lovely botanical garden in my neighborhood. I was so thrilled to see their lavender was blooming...such a pretty sight!
All the fields around us yellow with Rape flowers.
This was taken through a dirty windscreen, but just wanted to capture the yellow. ( I wasn't driving!!)
I've been looking for an economical solution to automate my field shooting and I've found on eBay this motorized rail for CNC machines at a cost below 50 €.
As you can see it is easily adaptable to photographic needs and has proven to be accurate beyond any expectation. All my last photos have been made with this and I've tried it up to a magnification ratio of 5: 1 and 20 micron step with great results.
You know those kinds movies right? You are lazying around on a Saturday or Sunday, you flip the channels, you see THAT movie, the movie that you'll now start watching, no matter how long it's been on, and you get sucked in each and every time.
Field of Dreams is one of those for me. There are so many cool moments in the film that build off each other, it's easy to get pulled right into the plot. Plus, unless you are a brick-wall-of-emotions, it kinds of gets you choked up right?
"Hey dad...you wanna have a catch?"
Oh man, gets to me every time :)
So it's another Movie Title Wednesday on the MO blog and this is a picture snapped back in Ontario, Canada last December. I think I processed this once, back then, and didn't like it, so I forgot about it. But my skills with doing HDR have drastically improved since then and this second go-round was much more fun. It's hard to dislike the gorgeous light coming from the just rising sun that is behind me. The field is made up of dead, harvested corn stalks, which is what made me think of this movie in the first place. The water in the field, if I remember correctly, was partially ice.
The sky was okay in the shot, but a smidge boring for this weather nut who likes high drama, so I mixed in a texture I shot in Bruges, Belgium a few months back. Good tip for you travelers: If you love textures, try to pull your eyes away from the wide angle shots of the city or town you are in, and look closer at the cobblestone, or doors or windows...and find yourself a "memento" that you can take back and use with other photographs. While it's all done digitally, there was something very cool to me with combining a photograph of a barn in Ontario with a wood texture from Bruges.

The Monkey just finished filling up on water.
Mr Boney and Ms Pumpkin Pie soon followed.
Dogs raced and zipped around having big fun.
An hour later they climbed into the sidecar
and directed their k9manservant to take
them home and feed them breakfast.
Without wasting any time we left
heading straight home where
they were all fed a meal ;-)

In the Woodford Valley near Salisbury is a very nice pub and eatery called the Wheatsheaf. The lyrics above are painted on the walls of the beer garden.
This shot was taken not far from where the Author of that famous song lives, and I wonder if the many fields of gold on the Salisbury Plains inspired the lyrics.

Just outside of Hood River - I found this field where there were hundreds of little clumps of balsamroot. The wind was blowing so strongly that it took many shots to finally get a sharp shot. I did add some post production blur and other tricks to make this softer that the normal shot. Guess I was feeling artistic.....

Finished work this morning at six, looked like it could be a good sunrise and the rain had stopped, so I darted off home and grabbed My gear and mountain bike and rode to a local field to grab some bale shots. Pleased I went out, I got a few shots I like. Made this one just before I left the field, had packed My stuff away then noticed the sky changing with some fast moving clouds.
A hundred and seventy years ago, 200 Hunter invaders sought refuge in this windmill from British and Canadian forces in a four day siege.
In the end, as many as 50 were left behind in a common grave, 18 were executed, 60 sent to the British penal colony in Australia, 40 were acquitted and 86 were pardoned.
Their counsel was a young Kingston lawyer, Sir John A. MacDonald .... soon to be the first Canadian Prime Minister.
Some thirty years later that windmill was converted to a lighthouse.
