Dead leaf.
A relapse. I have fallen. I'm back with my favourite Topaz filter, Glow.
This a picture of a dead leaf off one of my daughter's houseplants. Variety unknown. But certainly deceased though the plant lives on...
Leaves have veins; veins form linear patterns; Glow emphasises linear patterns; so should be interesting... perhaps. Thus the theory went.
Cropped to a cinematic ratio of 2.35:1 to accentuate the horizontal vein.
I'll post a link to the original as usual.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Sliders Sunday :)

This shows a puni (POO-knee) in the background, which is a cylinder of fibre prepared for spinning; the singles on a spindle from the spinning wheel, which will then be plied while still on the wheel to produce a finished braid of yarn like the one beside it.

A big and little wagon lead SOGBA west at Fibre on January 22, 1998. 6650, 1753 and 3003 are rolling right along with 88 cars on a sunny winter afternoon. After shooting this guy at Rudyard from the sunny side I had to sit until the whole train went by before chasing him down for this view. I barely was able to overtake him and get in position for this shot.

I should not be let loose with a 90mm macro lens. It leads to me sitting at my desk in the dark with a fibre optic brush!!
No Photoshop, no AI, all shot in camera.
Project 365, 2022 Edition: Day 249/365
This evening the collaborative group met for the first time. We're each spinning fibre and knitting a shawl from fibre we shared with each other. Many in the group (including my partner, Danny) are more experienced spinners than me, and I appreciated the opportunity to ask some questions. For this photo I played around some more with the fibres seeing how their colours interact.

For December I'll upload images to do with the festive season. This is going to be many different things...
FROM THE SERIES CIRCLES AND LIGHTS.
I am always on the look-out for visually interesting props, this is obviously a set of fibre optic lights, consists of 6 balls which I arranged in different ways to get a pleasing composition.
The light-guiding principle behind optical fibres was first demonstrated in Victorian times when the total internal reflection principle was used to illuminate streams of water in elaborate public fountains, but modern optical fibres were only developed in the beginning of the 1950's.
Now that we are back on Winter time, it is dark very early, the weather's gone bad, I've had plenty of time to think and be creative in the studio once more.
I am enjoying the burst of creativity, I wish you all a day full of light and THANX for your visit and comments, so appreciated, Magda (*_*)

Austroderia is a genus of five species of tall grasses native to New Zealand, commonly known as toetoe (from Māori). The species are A. toetoe, A. fulvida, A. splendens, A. richardii and A. turbaria. They were recently reclassified in 2011 from the genus Cortaderia, although their distinctiveness had been recognized as early as 1853.
The Māori used the toetoe leaves to make baskets, kites, mats, wall linings and roof thatching. It was also used to make containers to cook food in hot springs, due to the fibres being water-resistant. The flower stalks were also useful - as frames for kites, and in tukutuku panelling. The seed heads themselves were used on fresh wounds to stop bleeding. Other medicinal uses included treatment of diarrhoea, kidney complaints, and burns. Toetoe is New Zealand's largest native grass, growing in clumps up to 3m in height.

I must try and get out to get some new photos today......
I had nothing new to post, so just took some photos indoors last night,
this is Jacks fibre optic light, some of you might remember them from the 70's, they were popular then and are still popular in some homes now ;-)
this is one of those cheap battery operated ones, still looks pretty though.
We ventured into parts of the port of Astoria, Oregon, we hadn't seen before.
That's where I discovered huge sets of neatly folded and bundled nets that were presumably awaiting the next fishing season.
With their different colors, textures, materials and patterns, these bundles are works of found art.
