Olympiastadion mit Spielfeld und Zuschauerplätze!
Wir waren gerade an der Feuerschale als viele Singstimmen erklangen, direkt gegenüber hatte eine kleine Gruppe Platz genommen.
Der Klang eines transportablen Klavier ertönte für das Einstimmen/Gesangstraining und wir durften an einer Chorprobe als Zuhörer*inen teilnehmen, eine schöne Überraschung.
Seid achtsam, haltet Abstand-Hygiene-Alltagsmaske, abgekürzt "AHA" Dann kommen wir auch gut durch die Zeit.

Olympic stadium with playing field and spectator seats!
We were just at the fire bowl when many singing voices sounded, directly opposite a small group had taken a seat.
The sound of a portable piano was heard for tuning up/vocal training and we were allowed to participate in a choir rehearsal as listeners*, a nice surprise.
Be mindful, keep your distance hygiene everyday mask, abbreviated "AHA" Then we also get through time well.

Un stade olympique avec un terrain de jeu et des sièges pour les spectateurs !
Nous étions juste à la boule de feu quand de nombreuses voix ont retenti, juste en face d'un petit groupe qui s'était assis.
Le son d'un piano transportable a été utilisé pour l'accordage et l'entraînement au chant et nous avons pu participer à une répétition de la chorale en tant qu'auditeurs*, une belle surprise.
Attention, gardez vos distances - masque de tous les jours, en abrégé "AHA" Alors on passe aussi bien le temps.

Gestern war in Berlin ein warmer Herbstsommertag, blauer Himmel und wunderschöne Wolkenformationen. Der Himmel war ein Wechselspiel der Farben und Wolken, ein Augenschmaus für Fotografen.

Yesterday was a warm autumn summer day in Berlin, blue sky and beautiful cloud formations. The sky was an interplay of colours and clouds, a feast for the eyes of photographers.

Hier était une chaude journée d'automne et d'été à Berlin, avec un ciel bleu et de belles formations nuageuses. Le ciel était un jeu de couleurs et de nuages, un régal pour les yeux des photographes.

Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm F/2
This is the second capture from my recent photowalk at the Olympic stadium in Berlin (for the first image please check my previous upload). It was the first (!!!) proper photowalk in this strange year (the cube berlin in July was more like a short, casual stroll, we were there for just an hour), and the Olympic stadium is ideal for a worry-free, relaxed visit, because that place is huge – well, that's what Olympic stadiums are, aren't they? –, so keeping a safety distance to the other (very few) visitors was super easy. And what was in my bag: the EM5II with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm F/2 ultrawide angle lens and the M.Zuiko 12-40 F/2.8 Pro Zoom (but I'd used the Laowa for most captures, because in a place like this it almost always can't be wide enough), and, of course, the Ricoh GRIII. The light situation inside the Olympic stadium isn't that easy, so I mostly shot in exposure bracketing mode. Something I wish I'd have figured out how to do it on the Ricoh before my visit there, but I got lovely images with the GRIII as well ;-) I will post images from this visit in a loose sequence – and don't worry, I won't bore you with Olympic stadium images only for the rest of the year, there are still enough nice captures in my archive to ensure variety, and of course I also hope to be able to take more new images this year (apart from MMs) ;-)
So this is a handheld HDR image made from three different exposures. Sharpened in Topaz Sharpen AI (mode "Sharpen"), further HDRified in Aurora HDR and finally LUTified ("Keen") in ON1 for a lighter, more colourful and somewhat breezier look, because just when I took images in that part of the Olympic stadium (at the Marathon Gate) the sun decided to hide behind the beautiful clouds we've had on that day, so the original HDR was a little on the dark side. In ON1 I've also added some detail to the Olympic cauldron – which is the original from the Olympic summer games in 1936.

This is my personal "Best Shot of 2020". Taken during a visit at the Olympiastadion Berlin in September which also had been my only real photowalk in 2020. While the image in the first comment might be a little more compelling, because it shows the historical Olympic cauldron of the Olympic Summer Games of 1936 and also the interesting-looking open part of the roof of the Olympic stadium, this image includes the two things that made an already wonderful day special – and one of them also is a symbol for the changes the Corona pandemic has brought to our lives. The image of the Olympic cauldron was taken from the exact opposite position of this photo; while we were at the Olympic cauldron (here you can't see it, but you can see the marathon gate below the tall, slim bell tower), I noticed that all of a sudden a larger group of teenagers and children appeared at the opposite entrance of the stadium. I wondered what was going on, because I couldn't imagine that in those pandemic times there would be any school field trips. And soon it became clear what this was all about, because once the children had taken their places, they started to warm up by singing scales: This was a choir practice :) Of course I tried to find out which choir it was that got the marvellous opportunity to practice in the empty stadium, with enough, safe distance to each other, so I searched for "choir practice at the Olympiastadion" later and learned that this was the youth and children's choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin (STRG/CTRL+ www.berlin-buehnen.de/en/theatres/deutsche-oper-berlin/). And so the rest of our photowalk was accompanied by beautiful singing which tremendously added to the elated, relaxed, literally free mood of that day :) What a wonderful, unexpected gift which was made even better by that wonderful sunset we saw when we went back into the stadium for a few last shots: This was my personal "Wow moment" of 2020 :)
Dear Flickr, friends, I wish you a Happy and Healthy 2021! Let's hope that, step by step, the "new normal" will eventually be replaced by our old normal, at least a little bit :)
Für mich mein schönstes Foto des Jahres 2020. Aufgenommen im September im Berliner Olympastadion, das herrlich leer gewesen war an jenem Tag, sodass wir unbeschwert nach Fotomotiven suchen konnten. Das Foto im ersten Kommentar, das die Original-Feuerschale der Sommerspiele von 1936 und den interessanten offenen Teil der Dachkonstruktion zeigt, ist vielleicht das spannendere Bild, aber es zeigt nicht die zwei Dinge, die diesen ohnehin schon tollen Spätsommer-Tag zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht haben: Als wir bei der Feuerschale waren, die sich exakt gegenüber von dem Stadion-Eingang befindet, von dem ich später dieses Foto gemacht habe, sah ich auf einmal eine ziemlich große Grupper Kinder und Jugendlicher ins Stadion kommen, was mich doch wunderte, weil ich mir kaum vorstellen konnte, dass in Pandemie-Zeiten größere Schulausflüge möglich sein würden. Des Rätsels Lösung: Sobald die Kinder alle ihre Plätze eingenommen hatten, fingen sie auch schon an, sich einzusingen. Und nicht etwa mit Fußballgesängen ;) Es fand eine Chorprobe im Olympiastadion statt, dem zu normalen Zeiten wohl unwahrscheinlichsten Ort zumindest für klassische Chorgesänge, zu Corona-Zeiten aber wie dafür gemacht: mit recht guter Akustik und genügend freier Fläche, um mit Abstand und dennoch gemeinsam singen zu können. Ich habe dann später recherchiert, welcher Chor das wohl gewesen sein könnte; es handelte sich um den Kinder- und Jugendchor der Deutschen Oper Berlin: STRG/CTRL+ olympiastadion.berlin/de/neuigkeiten/kinderchor/.
Was für eine tolle, fast schon surreale Atmosphäre das war, der dann zum Schluss auch noch der herrliche Sonnenuntergang mit diesem typisch goldenen Septemberlicht die Krone aufsetzte :) Mein persönlicher "Wow-Moment" des daran gewiss nicht reichen Jahres 2020 :)
Ich wünsche Euch allen ein gesundes und, trotz aller Ein- und Beschränkungen, die uns wohl noch eine ganze Weile begleiten werden, schönes Jahr 2021!

Wie eine Blume. Auf das Blühen wartend.
Ich finde, dieser halb verbrannte Kiefernzapfen sieht fast aus wie eine Blume mit einem schwarzen Inneren. Ich fand ihn in der Feuerschale in unserem Garten und dachte an das heutige Thema „Schwarze Schönheit“ – und dann kam mir auch noch dieser Song dazu in den Sinn, aus dem die Textzeilen stammen:

The cauldron is still there. In 1992, during the Olympic Games in Barcelona, the Olympic fire burned on top of this tower.
Good place to remember the "Barcelona" song from Freddy Mercury and Montserrat Caballé although they could not sing it any more when the games started.

He was buried at the Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery) in Vienna in a grave of honor sponsored by the city of Vienna, which was still part of Nazi Germany. Following an initiative by the Austrian Green Party and debates in the Vienna Landtag, a resolution supported by Social Democrats and Greens was passed to remove the status of honor in 2003. The right wing parties protested against it.
Still there are wreath-laying ceremonies at his grave. In contradiction to this heroization, I toned the picture red, symbolizing the deaths he caused, the shedding of blood this ideology caused.

W. N. war Mitglied schlagender Verbindungen, Ab 1938 NSDAP Mitglied. Hochdekorierter Luftwaffenmajor. 1944 Staatsbegräbnis, Ehrengrab der Stadt Wien. Erst 2003 wurde der Ehrengrabstatus aufgehoben durch eine Inititative der Grünen, unterstützt von der SPÖ. Die FPÖ portestierte dagegen. und auch die ÖVP stimmte nicht dafür.
Zu einer Verlegung des Grabes, wie die Grünen ebenfalls forderten, kam es nicht - das Grab wird nun als Soldatengrab geführt - und es wurde auch keine Bedenktafel mit Informationen aufgestellt. So befindet sich dieses Grab nach wie vor im Ehrenhain nur ein paar Schritte von der Präsidentengruft entfernt.
Ein Grabpflegeverein wurde unter Beteiligung von FPÖ Politikern gegründet - zum Todestag werden nach wie vor Kranzniederlegungen veranstaltet, mit Reden und Feuer in der großen Feuerschale vorne ....
Da feiern sie den Tatenruhm, Mehr als 258 Flugzeuge hat er abgeschossen für Führer und Reich - von abgeschossenen Flugzeugen sprechen sie, nicht von getöteten Piloten. Wieviele Menschen getötet, wieviel Blut vergossen - das sind die Taten - keines Ruhmes wert

Ehrengrab heißt unter anderem auch, daß die Grabpflege, Schmückung,... von den Steuern bezahlt wird, also auch mit meinem Geld. Daran hat sich allerdings durch die Aberkennung des Ehrenstatus nichts geändert, denn auch die Aufwendungen des danach gegründeten Vereins werden vom Innenministerium vergütet, da es sich nunmehr um ein Soldatengrab handelt.

Im Jahr 1907 wurde auf der Hardthöhe zwischen den Städten Elberfeld und Barmen der Bismarckturm errichtet - zu Ehren des Reichskanzlers Otto von Bismarck. Das Bauwerk sollte ursprünglich eine Feuerschale tragen, die einen lodernden Lichtschein weit ins Land senden sollte. Dazu ist es aber nicht gekommen. Der Turm ist heute wie damals als Aussichtsturm zu besteigen und bietet einen guten Blick über die Stadt Wuppertal.
Eine historische Ansichtskarte aus meiner Sammlung. Sie wurde am 21. Mai 1908 von (Wuppertal-)Barmen an ein Fräulein Cüpper in Coblenz (heute Koblenz) verschickt. Die Karte trägt den Herstellervermerk "Verlag Max Biegel, Elberfeld 1908".

This tower has been erected in 1907. It was dedicated to the Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. (He was the politician who had shaped the German Reich; he died in 1898). Originally it was planned to crown the clumsy piece of architecture with a large fire pit which should have cast a strong light far into the land. But this concept did not materialize.
The vintage picture postcard is a piece from my collection. In May 1908 it was sent from Barmen (now part of the city of Wuppertal) to Coblenz (now known as Koblenz).

Im Jahr 1907 wurde auf der Hardthöhe zwischen den Städten Elberfeld und Barmen der Bismarckturm errichtet - zu Ehren des Reichskanzlers Otto von Bismarck. Das Bauwerk sollte ursprünglich eine Feuerschale tragen, die einen lodernden Lichtschein weit ins Land senden sollte. Dazu ist es aber nicht gekommen. Die historische Ansichtskarte aus meiner Sammlung zeigt zusätzlich das Tal der Wuppert mit der Schwebebahn und typischer Fabrik-Architektur. Ein idealisiertes Portrait des Reichskanzlers und ein markiger Spruch geben ihr eine patriotische Note. Das Druck-Erzeugnis wurde im Jahr 1908 von (Wuppertal-)Elberfeld "Godesberg / Rhein" (heute Stadtteil von Bonn) verschickt. Die Karte ist verlegt von "Wilh. Fülle, Barmen", der sie unter der No. 3417 in seinem Sortiment führte.
