Yesterday I had a date with myself for dinner. With this indescribable beautiful view at mt. Lilienstein and the setting sun, it didn't need much to get a festally meal. Even the musical backdrop of an uncountable amount of different birds everywhere was a feast for the senses. And not as a sideline I had the opportunity to spend time with someone, thats really important to me. After all it was a very successful evening.
Gestern abend hatte ich eine Verabredung zum Abendessen, mit mir selbst. Mit diesem unbeschreiblich schönen Ausblick auf den Lilienstein und die untergehende Sonne brauchte es nicht viel um ein festliches Mal zu werden. Auch die musikalische Untermahlung von unzähligen verschiedenen Vögeln überall war ein Fest für die Sinne. Und nicht ganz nebenbei hatte ich die Gelegenheit Zeit mit jemandem zu verbringen, der mir sehr wichtig ist. In Summe ein sehr gelungener Abend.

Actually this was meant for the first Sunday of Advent – yesterday –, but I didn't get around to upload it (and neither to take my MM shot), so this is an unusual Monday contribution, not a macro, but actually a Monday slider. It's also another photo from Hot Pixel Universe, a universe only the LX100 can make visible. You may wonder about the starry sky above the Deutsche Dom (New Church), because stars are usually difficult to see in a brightly illuminated city because of light pollution. Unless you shoot with an LX100, of course ;)
If I remember correctly, long exposure noise reduction had been activated in the camera when I took this photo at the 2018 Festival of Lights. I don't know if that caused the hot pixels, or if the LX100's sensor gets particularly warm during long exposures. The hot pixels are only visible against a totally black sky, not against a blue hour sky, for instance, and especially enhancing the clarity in LR brings them out clearly.
The hot pixels aren't really a big issue, because it's easy to remove them in post. But here I actually liked them, because I think that they add such a festive look to this beautifully illuminated scene, so I decided to leave them in the image. Or rather: I added them back to the photo from an older, already processed version of this shot, because when I re-processed this image just the other day in DXO PhotoLab 5, the amazing DeepPRIME denoising technology detected the hot pixels and removed them. I hope you like Hot Pixel Universe :)

Eigentlich wollte ich dieses Foto gestern zum 1. Advent hochladen, bin aber leider nicht dazu gekommen. Ihr fragt Euch jetzt wahrscheinlich, woher das Sternenmeer kommt, mitten in der Stadt, die zum Festival of Lights sogar noch heller beleuchtet ist als sonst. Nun, es handelt sich hierbei um ein ganz besonderes Universum, das Hot-Pixel-Universum, das nur die LX100 sichtbar machen kann ;)
Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, war damals die Langzeitrauschunterdrückung in der Kamera aktiviert. Ob mir das nun die vielen "Sterne" beschert hat oder der Sensor der LX100 bei Langzeitbelichtungen außergewöhnlich warm wird, kann ich nicht sagen. Ich weiß nur, dass ich sie auch bei einigen anderen Nachtfotos vom Festival of Lights hatte, aber immer nur bei bereits völlig schwarzem Himmel, nie z.B. zur Blauen Stunde, und erst das Verstärken der Klarheit in LR hebt die kleinen Pünktchen so richtig hervor.
Das Entfernen wäre auch keine große Sache, tatsächlich erkennt mittlerweile die Entrauschungstechnologie DeepPRIME in DXO PhotLab 5 diesen Bildfehler so zuverlässig, dass mir das Programm jetzt, als ich das Foto noch einmal neu bearbeitet habe, die Pixel fast sämtlichst entfernt hat. Da sie mir hier aber so gut gefallen haben, weil sie dem Foto so ein weihnachtliches, festliches Strahlen verleihen, habe ich mir die Sternlein aus einer bereits 2018 bearbeiteten Version des Fotos einfach zurückgeholt :) Ich hoffe, Euch gefällt meine kleine "Deutscher Dom unter Sternenmeer"-Spielerei :)

Die Adventszeit ist vorbei und damit auch die festliche Dekoration.Nun ist es weiß und grau aber zum Glück können es sich die meisten von uns trotzdem drin gemütlich machen.

True to one of his favourite subjects, peasant life, in this painting Millet presents the result of ten years' research into the theme of the gleaners.
These women embody the rural proletariat. They were allowed to pass quickly through the harvested fields before sunset to pick up the neglected ears of corn one by one.
The painter depicts three of them in the foreground, their backs bent and their gaze riveted to the ground.
In this way, he juxtaposes the three phases of the repetitive, back-breaking movement involved in this arduous task: bending down, picking up, getting up again.
Their austerity contrasts with the abundance of the harvest in the distance: millstones, sheaves, carts and the multitude of harvesters bustling about.
The abrupt change in scale makes this bright, festive scene seem all the more remote.
The low-angled light of the setting sun accentuates the volumes of the foreground and gives the gleaners a sculptural appearance. It vividly highlights their hands, necks, shoulders and backs, and brings out the colours of their clothes.

Das Streiflicht der untergehenden Sonne betont die Volumen des Vordergrunds und verleiht den Erntehelferinnen einen skulpturalen Aspekt. Es betont ihre Hände, Nacken, Schultern und Rücken und bringt die Farben ihrer Kleidung zum Leuchten.
Dann verwischt Millet langsam die Ferne, um eine goldene, pudrige Atmosphäre zu erzeugen und den bukolischen Eindruck des Hintergrunds zu betonen.
Die Person auf dem Pferd, die rechts isoliert steht, ist wahrscheinlich ein Verwalter.

Jahrhunderts errichtete die Aachener Bürgerschaft unter Leitung ihres amtierenden Bürgermeisters Gerhard Chorus (1285–1367) als Zeichen ihrer bürgerlichen Freiheit ein neues Rathaus. Bis dahin hatte das Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts errichtete Grashaus als Rathaus gedient. Als Zugeständnis an die römisch-deutschen Könige musste die Bürgerschaft sich allerdings verpflichten, im neuen Rathaus einen Saal für das festliche Krönungsmahl (im Anschluss an die Königskrönungen im Aachener Dom) einzurichten. Mit dem Bau wurde 1330 begonnen, wobei das Gebäude auf den Grundmauern eines verfallenen Palastbaus aus der Karolingerzeit, der Aula regia der Kaiserpfalz, errichtet wurde.
Der aus der Zeit Karls des Großen stammende Granusturm wurde übernommen und um 14 Meter aufgestockt. Auch in der Rathaussüdseite sind noch Teile des aufgehenden karolingischen Mauerwerkes vorhanden.[1] Die Fertigstellung erfolgte 1349. Bis zum Jahr 1531 fanden im so genannten Krönungssaal die Festessen anlässlich der Aachener Königskrönungen statt. Während das Rathaus als Verwaltungsgebäude und Festhaus für die Reichsfeiern diente, wurden im Granusturm Urkunden und ein Teil der städtischen Waffen und Munition untergebracht. Der Turm diente außerdem zeitweilig als Gefängnis.
Das gotische Rathaus von Aachen gilt als architektonisches Vorbild zahlreicher Rathausbauten im flämischen Raum dieser Zeit.
