... the controversial "brown" series
This is what i found for you :
At a practical level the gleaming pronged prow is another counterweight to the gondolier at the back. It also protects the front of the wooden boat from accidental scrapes and collisions. But the prow is so much more and if you know how to decipher it will reveal information about the geography, landscape and power of this most beautiful of cities.
As you look closer the details start to stand out. And every one has a meaning. The domed top, for example, represents the ceremonial hat of the Doge or president of the old Venetian Republic. The 6 prongs to the front represent the 6 districts or sestieres of the historic centre. And the prong facing backwards denotes the island of Giudecca that floats just off the bottom of the city. Some boats also have 3 additional prongs interspersed between the 6 main ones and these signify the main islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. But that’s not all. The overall S-shape of the prow mirrors the characteristic curves of the legendary Grand Canal that winds between the city’s grandest palazzi. And finally the small semi-circular opening beneath the dome represents St Mark’s Basin, the expanse of water in front of the Doge’s Palace that leads to the city’s front door. Ultimately the entire city is encased in this wonderful metallic prua so it’s fitting that it’s become the motif of Venice across the world.

Die Lagunenseen im Roussillon, die sich südlich von Narbonne zwischen der Mittelmeerküste - dem Littoral - und den ersten bergigen Ausläufern der Corbières erstrecken, sind ein einzigartiger und faszinierender Naturraum. Hier zerfließen nicht nur die Grenzen von Salz- und Süßwasser im steten Wandel, sondern auch die optischen Eindrücke wechseln ständig mit dem Lauf der Sonne und den auf- und abflauenden Böen der Tramontane, die immer wieder neue Muster auf die Oberflächen der großen und kleinen Seen zaubern.
Von der Ramsar-Konvention - einem der ältesten völkerrechtlichen Verträge zum Naturschutz - umfasst, sind sie eine wichtige Zwischenetappe und Lebensraum für Zugvögel. Das hört und sieht man im Sommer auch allerorten und auch wenn man mit Vogelbeobachtung eigentlich nicht viel am Hut hat und einem dieser Zeitvertreib eher verschnarcht vorkommt, kann man sich der Faszination eines landenden Flamingo-Schwarms oder den auf Futtersuche durchs Wasser stolzierenden Vögeln nur schwer entziehen.
Und dass dann sogar noch eine Bahnstrecke mitten hindurch verläuft... Da bleiben doch wirklich keine Wünsche mehr offen! ;)
In den letzten Sonnenstrahlen des 19. September 2021 rauschte auf eben jenem Schienenstrang eine unerkannt gebliebene BB 7200 in silberner Fantôme-Livrée mit einer stattlichen Corail-Garnitur als Intercités de nuit 3730 (Cerbère - Paris Austerlitz) der einsetzenden Nacht entgegen. Beobachtet habe ich sie an der Saline von La Palme am gleichnamigen Étang, der an diesem Abend von zahlreichen Flamingos bevölkert war.
Porto Ferro is a small bay in North-west Sardinia (see map at right). In the past it was used as operational base for the boats of coral fishermen as in the nearby cliffs the red coral was abudant. Nowadays the coral is almost disappeared due to the excessive exploitation.
