American actress Sigourney Weaver (1949) rose to international fame with her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien saga. After her breakthrough in the Science Fiction blockbuster Alien (1979), she became one of Hollywood's major female stars during the 1980s and 1990s. Weaver often plays strong, independent, and driven women. She was nominated for an Oscar for Aliens (1987), Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey (1988) and Working Girl (1988), and her tour-de-force performance in the Broadway play 'Hurlyburly' (1984) earned her a Tony Award nomination. Weaver has actually won more than ten film awards, including two Golden Globes and a BAFTA Award.
Susan Alexandra 'Sigourney' Weaver was born in New York, in 1949. Weaver is the daughter of television producer and president of NBC Pat Weaver and British actress Elizabeth Inglis. She changed her name to 'Sigourney' at the age of 14, after a character in F. Scott Fitzgerald's book 'The Great Gatsby'. She graduated from Stanford and Yale, in the same class as Meryl Streep. In the 1970s, she acted in experimental and classical plays, including those by her former classmate Christopher Durang. Because of her height (she is 1.82 metres), she was often ignored by most producers and directors. In 1976, Weaver got a role in the soap opera Somerset. The following year, she made her film debut: she appeared for six seconds in Annie Hall (Woody Allen, 1977). However, it made many people sit up and take notice. She had her first starring role in Madman (Dan Cohen, 1978) starring Michael Beck. Her breakthrough followed in Ridley Scott's Alien (1979). The part of Ellen Ripley became her most famous role and made Weaver one of the greatest actresses of the moment. She continued her career with drama films such as Eyewitness (Peter Yates, 1981) and The Year of Living Dangerously (Pewter Weir, 1982), with Mel Gibson. Weaver also reprised the role of Ellen Ripley in the films Alien³ (David Fincher, 1992) and Alien: Resurrection (Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 1997) with Winona Ryder, as well as in the game Alien: Isolation (2014), the latter of which marks the actress' return 17 years after her last appearance in the franchise. Schloss Sanssouci (frz. sans souci = ohne Sorge) liegt im östlichen Teil des gleichnamigen Parks und ist eines der bekanntesten Hohenzollernschlösser der brandenburgischen Landeshauptstadt Potsdam. Nach eigenen Skizzen ließ der preußische König Friedrich der Große in den Jahren 1745–1747 ein kleines Sommerschloss im Stil des Rokoko errichten. Mit der Planung beauftragte er den Architekten Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff.
Unter Friedrich Wilhelm IV. wurde Schloss Sanssouci 1840–1842 durch Umbau und Verlängerung der zwei Seitenflügel erweitert. Ludwig Persius erstellte die Entwurfszeichnungen. Mit der örtlichen Bauaufsicht wurde Ferdinand von Arnim beauftragt.
Seit 1990 steht Sanssouci mit seinen Schlössern und dem weitläufigen Schlosspark als Weltkulturerbe unter dem Schutz der UNESCO. Die Organisation begründet dies so: Schloss und Park von Sanssouci, oft als „preußisches Versailles“ bezeichnet, sind eine Synthese der Kunstrichtungen des 18. Jahrhunderts in den Städten und Höfen Europas. Das Ensemble ist ein herausragendes Beispiel von Architekturschöpfungen und Landschaftsgestaltungen vor dem geistigen Hintergrund der monarchistischen Staatsidee.
Anlage der Weinbergterrassen
Die berühmte Gartenansicht von Sanssouci entstand nach der Entscheidung Friedrichs des Großen, am Südhang des Bornstedter Höhenzugs einen terrassierten Weinberg anzulegen. Vormals standen auf der Anhöhe Eichen. Zu Zeiten des Soldatenkönigs Friedrich Wilhelm I. wurden die Bäume gefällt und beim Ausbau der Stadt Potsdam für die Befestigung des sumpfigen Bodens verwandt. Am 10. August 1744 gab Friedrich der Große Order den „Wüsten Berg“ durch die Anlage von Weinterrassen zu kultivieren.
Der Hang wurde in sechs breite Terrassen gegliedert, mit zur Mitte hin nach innen schwingenden Mauern, um eine größtmögliche Ausnutzung der Sonnenstrahlung zu erreichen. An den Wänden der Stützmauern wechselt Mauerwerk, an dem an Spalieren Weinstöcke aus Portugal, Italien, Frankreich, aber auch aus Ruppin empor rankten, mit 168 verglasten Nischen, in denen Feigen wuchsen. Nach vorn waren die einzelnen Terrassenpartien durch Rasenstreifen, bepflanzt mit Taxusformbäumen und einer Hecke aus Spalierobst, abgegrenzt. In der Mittelachse führten 120 (heute 132) Stufen den Hang hinab, entsprechend den Terrassen sechsmal unterteilt, und zu beiden Seiten des Hanges je eine Auffahrtrampe.
Unterhalb der Anhöhe, im Parterre, wurde 1745 ein barocker Ziergarten angelegt, dessen Mitte seit 1748 ein Brunnenbecken mit der Großen Fontäne einnimmt, die Friedrich aber nie sprudeln sah, weil die von ihm beauftragten „Fontainiers“ die Technik nur mangelhaft beherrschten. Ab 1750 umsäumten Marmorstatuen das Bassin, die Götterfiguren Venus, Merkur, Apollon, Diana, Juno, Jupiter, Mars und Minerva sowie allegorische Darstellungen der vier Elemente Feuer, Wasser, Luft und Erde. Venus und Merkur, Arbeiten des Bildhauers Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, und zwei Jagdgruppen, Allegorien der Elemente Luft und Wasser von Lambert-Sigisbert Adam, waren Geschenke des französischen Königs Ludwig XV.. Die übrigen Figuren stammen aus der Werkstatt von Francois Gaspard Adam, dem Chef des von Friedrich dem Großen in Berlin gegründeten französischen Bildhauerateliers. Die Vervollständigung des sogenannten Französischen Rondells dauerte bis 1764.
In der Nähe befand sich ein Küchengarten, den Friedrich Wilhelm I. schon 1715 anlegen ließ. Den einfachen Nutzgarten nannte der Soldatenkönig spöttisch „mein Marly“, in Anlehnung an die aufwändige Gartenanlage Marly-le-Roi des französischen Königs Ludwig XIV., des Sonnenkönigs.
Auf die Verbindung von Zier- und Nutzgarten legte Friedrich II. bei der gesamten Anlage des Parks großen Wert. Ausschlaggebend dafür war neben seiner Vorliebe für frisches Obst seine Auffassung, dass Kunst und Natur eine Einheit bilden sollten.

The original car was famously a 1959 Cadillac, already an old car by the time the film made its debut in 1984. The new one is also old-school, it’s a 1980s Cadillac Fleetwood Station Wagon. Think it’s destined to be a classic too?
The movie supposed to hit the screens next summer starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones wearing the jumpsuits, while Chris Hemsworth takes care of the calls as their secretary. According to Comingsoon, it will also feature Andy Garcia as the Mayor of NYC, Niel Casey as the villain, The Wire’s Michael K. Williams as “Hawkins” and Matt Walsh as “Rouke”.
Paul Feig’s team is currently shooting the film in New York before relocating to Boston to finish it off.
As for the ladies, they don’t just have to drive a big ass Cadillac around the busy city, but also carry some rather heavy backpacks to work.

In seltenen Fällen bildet der Ficus Retusa solche Blütenstände aus, bei meiner Pflanze nach ca. 20 Jahren zum ersten Mal.
Die Pflanze entscheidet sich, ob sie eine Frucht ausbildet (eben die Feige) oder ob sie einer Feigenwespe die Möglichkeit gibt, ihre Eier darin abzulegen, welche dann später als Fliegen wiederum Blüten bestäuben. Allerdings gibt es in Berlin (noch?) keine Feigenwespen.

Rosa Eidam war eine Schriftstellerin, die zwischen 1890 und 1930 in Franken, vermutlich in Ansbach lebte. Sie verfasste u.a. 'Bayreuther Erinnerungen', die im Verlag C. Brügel & Sohn im Jahr 1930 in Ansbach erschienen. Im Eigenverlag ließ sie das Buch 'Bayreuther Festspielzeiten 1883-1924' um 1925 drucken. Eine Sammlung ihrer geistlichen Lieder erschien um 1894 im Verlag Max Eichinger, königliche Hofbuchhandlung, am Verlagsort Ansbach unter dem Titel 'Grüne Zweige vom Baume des Lebens'.

The brand new and all-female Ghostbusters crew will drive this 80s Cadillac hearse wagon according to director Paul Feig’s tweet published last night. Yeah or meh?
The original car was famously a 1959 Cadillac, already an old car by the time the film made its debut in 1984. The new one is also old-school, it’s a 1980s Cadillac Fleetwood Station Wagon. Think it’s destined to be a classic too?
The movie supposed to hit the screens next summer starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones wearing the jumpsuits, while Chris Hemsworth takes care of the calls as their secretary. According to Comingsoon, it will also feature Andy Garcia as the Mayor of NYC, Niel Casey as the villain, The Wire’s Michael K. Williams as “Hawkins” and Matt Walsh as “Rouke”.
Paul Feig’s team is currently shooting the film in New York before relocating to Boston to finish it off.
As for the ladies, they don’t just have to drive a big ass Cadillac around the busy city, but also carry some rather heavy backpacks to work.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to 'This Week in the News'! I got a lot of good stories today for you all so let's get started!
The first story of the week is, as you all may know, the Deadpool trailer came out this week! The next story of the week is that there was a screening for Batman v. Superman this week (a little early, huh?) at Warner Bros and it got STANDING OVATION! It's also being rumored that Warner Bros is going to sign Ben Affleck for his own Batman trilogy because his performance was so great in the movie! Oh man, remember when the movie was supposed to come out this year?! I'm so excited for this film!!

Jeez, that's a lot of films. Notice that Marvel's Spiderman is on the list, it's shows that it's not just Marvel making the film. So what film on this list are you most excited for?
The next story is we have a description on the visuals of Marvel's Doctor Strange, here, read this:
"Doctor Strange looks dark. Very dark. As in scraping the edge of ‘horror-movie-dark’ and information imparted about the film from Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, supports this appraisal. According to Feige, the film will have a firm footing in the shadowy world of the occult and supernatural. While we’re not expecting it to be a true blue horror film, but if it could provide as many chills as say Constantine (the TV series, NOT the film), then that would be great. Oh, and Benedict Cumberbatch looks very fetching in his Doctor Strange get-up. Very fetching."
Now some are saying that Doctor Strange is going to be Marvel's Fantasia which sounds fitting for the character. I really want them to go all out with the weirdness of this film and please tie this film to the Quantum Realm that was seen in Ant-Man!
Ok so the next story of the week is that the CW Flash TV series has found it's Wally West. Wally is going to be played by an actor named Keiynan Lonsdale (Insurgent). This is very interesting that there will be 3 speedsters on next the next season! I can't wait to see what they will do!
Alright so the last story is that Fant4stic director Josh Trank basically explains why his movie was so shitty, if you read the tweet above, you see that there was some real big issues behind the scenes of this movie. There are other reports going around that right before shooting this film, Fox cut the movie's budget, thus taking out 3 big action sequences and not finishing some CGI. It was also reported that Fox hijacked the editing bay of this film a month ago and cut out 30 minutes of the film! Oh man, this film was a wreck, hopefully the film has learned it's lesson with this property and treat it right in the future!

Schloss Johannisberg als Spielball der europäischen Politik
In den Koalitionskriegen hatte Schloss Johannisberg schwer unter den Übergriffen und Beschlagnahmen französischer Truppen zu leiden und wurde in der Folge zum Spielball der europäischen Politik. Die Säkularisation im Reichsdeputationshauptschluss von 1803 sprach Schloss Johannisberg nicht dem Fürsten Friedrich Wilhelm von Nassau-Weilburg, der den Rheingau bekommen hatte, sondern dem Haus Nassau-Oranien zu. Prinz Wilhelm V. reichte das Gut an seinen Sohn, den Erbprinzen Wilhelm-Friedrich weiter.
Da sich die Oranier weigerten, dem Rheinbund beizutreten, wurden sie 1806 von Napoléon enteignet. Der Versuch des Herzogs von Nassau, Schloss Johannisberg in seinen Besitz zu bringen, scheiterte jedoch. 1807 schenkte es Napoléon seinem Marschall François-Christophe Kellermann, dem Sieger von Valmy, als Belohnung für dessen militärische Verdienste. Als auf das gute Jahr 1807 mehrere schlechte Jahrgänge gefolgt waren, sah sich die damalige Verwalterin Adelaide Marco genötigt, den 1811er am Stock an den Frankfurter Bankier Peter Arnold Mumm zu verkaufen. Der sogenannte „Kometenjahrgang“ wurde der beste des ganzen Jahrhunderts. Mumm, der dafür nur 32.000 Gulden aufgewendet hatte, erlöste über 150.000 Gulden und konnte mit dem Gewinn sein eigenes Weingut in Johannisberg begründen.
1814 wurde die Domäne von den Verbündeten beschlagnahmt und unter gemeinsame Verwaltung gestellt. Im Wiener Kongress fiel zwar der Rheingau an das Herzogtum Nassau, der Johannisberg blieb jedoch davon ausgenommen. Ein Abkommen vom 13. Juni 1815 unterstellte es der Souveränität Österreichs. Es war jedoch abzusehen, dass die österreichische Krone das Gut nicht selbst verwalten würde. Zahlreiche verdiente Staatsmänner machten sich daher Hoffnungen auf den Johannisberg, so der preußische Generalstabschef Gneisenau, der Generalfeldmarschall von Blücher und der Minister Reichsfreiherr vom Stein, den der russische Zar Alexander I. favorisierte.
Schenkung an Metternich
In dieser Situation griff der österreichische Außenminister Klemens von Metternich zu. Die Wurzeln seiner Familie lagen am Rhein (Haus Metternich in Koblenz), aus Geldnot hatte er jedoch 1811/12 die Besitzungen in Geisenheim und Rüdesheim versteigern lassen. Er konnte Kaiser Franz I. im Jahre 1816 davon überzeugen, ihm den Johannisberg gegen eine jährliche Abgabe von einem Zehntel des Ertrags der über zwölf Jahre alten Weinberge an das Haus Habsburg zu überlassen. Dieser Zehnte überdauerte bis heute alle politischen Umwälzungen. Seit 1945 wird er in Geld abgegolten, zuvor wurden die Fässer ausgelost. Zehntberechtigter ist zurzeit Karl Habsburg-Lothringen. Ursprünglich sollte das Gut als Fideikommiss bei Aussterben der Linie Metternich-Winneburg an die Habsburger zurückfallen. Diese Regelung fiel der Abschaffung der Adelsprivilegien im Jahr 1920 zum Opfer. Auf die politischen Souveränitätsansprüche auf den Johannisberg verzichtete Österreich erst 1851, was kräftige Steuernachzahlungen an die nassauische Staatskasse zur Folge hatte. Klemens von Metternich investierte nicht nur in den Weinbau. Unter der Leitung des großherzoglich-hessischen Hofbaumeisters Georg Moller wurde der Hauptbau des Schlossgebäudes klassizistisch umgestaltet. Ferner ließ er einen Park mit mediterranen Gewächsen anlegen.
Der Johannisberg wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts zu einem Ziel des aufkommenden Rheintourismus; die Besucher tranken den berühmten Wein gleich auf der Schlossterrasse. Auch heute noch befindet sich hier der Ausschank, umgeben von Wein-Laubengängen, Feigen-Spalier und Esskastanien-Allee.

Riesling
Riesling wird in Deutschland nachweislich mehr als 600 Jahre lang kultiviert.
Riesling ist eine Rebsorte, die zu den hochwertigsten und kulturprägenden Weißweintrauben gezählt wird. Sie bringt qualitativ die besten Weine in klimatisch kühleren Weinbaugebieten hervor und wird vor allem in Deutschland, aber auch in zahlreichen Weinbauländern der Erde angebaut. Riesling-Weine genießen ein hohes Ansehen auf den internationalen Märkten. Viele Spitzenlagen im In- und Ausland sind ausschließlich mit Riesling bestockt. Vor allem in nördlichen Anbauländern wie Deutschland wird die Sorte fast ausschließlich in steilen Hängen angebaut.
Riesling ist eine natürliche Kreuzung aus Heunisch x Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris und Traminer-Klon und wurde vermutlich aus Wildrebenbeständen am Oberrhein ausgelesen.
Die Abstammung des Rieslings stellt Ferdinand Regner von der Höheren Bundeslehranstalt für Wein- und Obstbau in Klosterneuburg in seinen Untersuchungen folgendermaßen dar: „Unsere genetischen Analysen lassen beim Riesling drei genetische Phänomene erkennen, die zur heutigen Rebsorte geführt haben. Der vermutlich letzte Schritt war die Einkreuzung der Rebsorte Heunisch und hat dem Riesling Einiges an Beständigkeit, Vitalität und möglicherweise sein Säurepotential gebracht. Zuvor war es eine Rebe, die eine Kombination aus Traminer mit einer autochthonen Rebe vom Rhein darstellte. Die Traminereinkreuzung könnte spontan erfolgt sein und stellte wahrscheinlich eine qualitative Verbesserung dar. Den Traminer haben vermutlich die Römer an den Rhein gebracht. Die ursprüngliche Rebe bringt vor allem die Frosthärte und Kleinbeerigkeit mit. Diese Rebe war vermutlich schon von den Germanen in Besitz genommen und könnte auf Grund der Nähe des Rieslings zu den Wildreben aus diesen ausgelesen worden sein. Die örtliche Herkunft vom Rhein dürfte unbestritten sein.

What took me so long? I´ve been living in Portland for over 40 years, but it wasn´t until yesterday that I crossed the threshold of Portland´s historic Norse Hall.
We went there to see this year´s Lucia Festival. While I was there, I took a few photos.

In Norway, Sweden and Swedish-speaking regions of Finland, as songs are sung, girls dressed as Saint Lucy carry cookies and saffron buns in procession, which symbolizes bringing the Light of Christ into the world's darkness.[7][8] In both Protestant and Catholic churches, boys participate in the procession as well, playing different roles associated with Christmastide, such as that of Saint Stephen. The celebration of Saint Lucy's Day is said to help one live the winter days with enough light.[7]

PORTLAND’S HISTORIC NORSE HALL – HOME TO MEMORIES & DREAMS SINCE 1928
Norse Hall was built and dedicated in 1928 by Norwegian immigrants, members of Grieg Lodge, and has served the Lodge and the community as a home and cultural center ever since. Located just across the Willamette River from the city’s downtown core in the vibrant Lower East Burnside neighborhood, Norse Hall is among the last remaining original ‘ethnic halls’ in Portland. It features one of the finest ballrooms in town, a large stage, two dining rooms and kitchens, spacious meeting room, beautiful library, Nordic arts showcase and comfortable lounge. The building was designed by well-known Portland architect Elmer Feig, and covers a quarter of a city block at 111 N.E. 11th & Couch Street. It is available for use by the community on a private basis.
Dans cette petite portion du ciel, équivalente à un cinquième du diamètre de la pleine Lune, dans la constellation du Fourneau (Fornax), les 10 galaxies existant environ 830 millions d'années après le Big bang (estimé à ce jour à quelques 13,77 milliards d'années, avec + ou - 40 millions d'années) sont ici marquées par 8 cercles blancs dans une ligne diagonale filiforme (deux des cercles contenant plus d'une galaxie). Ensemble, ces galaxies interconnectées forment une structure qui s'étend sur 3 millions d'années-lumière.

Le champ noir est parsemé d'une variété de galaxies de nombreuses formes et tailles, blanches, jaunes, bleues et rouges (le rouge étant la couleur prédominante, indiquant les galaxies très éloignées). Huit petits cercles blancs marquent la position de 10 galaxies (deux cercles contenant plus d'une galaxie), disposées en une ligne
diagonale filiforme du bas à gauche vers le haut à droite.
Un quasar appelé J0305-3150 apparait au milieu de l'amas des 3 cercles sur le côté droit. Dans le cercle du quasar, il y a de fortes pointes de diffraction rouges rayonnant à partir d'un noyau blanc dont la luminosité éclipse la galaxie hôte. Les galaxies dans les autres cercles ne sont vues que comme des points rouges (cf. NASA, ESA, CSA, Feige Wang Université de l'Arizona et Joseph DePasquale STScI).
Pour situer les 10 galaxies de 830 millions d'années après le Big bang dans la constellation du Fourneau (Fornax) :
Wir waren nach Balazuc gefahren, welches zu den schönsten mittelalterlichen Städtchen in der Ardeche zählt. Unzählige Gässchen, lichtdurchflutete Durchgänge, reife Weintrauben, saftige Feigen ... wir waren sozusagen trunken von einem Feuerwerk schönster Eindrücke. Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir noch einmal hin, hielten unsere Füße ins kalte Wasser der Ardeche und genossen ein zweites Mal diesen schönen Ort.

Grüner Spargelsalat mit Datteln
Rumpsteak / Feigen / Zatar
Es geht nichts über einen leichten Spargelsalat mit einem schönen frisch gegrillten Stück Fleisch dazu. Gerade im Sommer eine wahre Freude. Hier ein Rezept mit einem rosa gebratenen Rumpsteak mit Datteln, getrockneten Feigen und gerösteten Pinienkernen. Abgerundet wird das Ganze mit einer Zatar Gewürzmischung und einem Spritzer frischen Zitronensaft.

Altar der Frauenkirche
Der barocke Altar ist ein Meisterwerk des Bildhauers Johann Christian Feige. Im Zentrum steht eine biblische Szene: Christus betet einsam im Garten Gethsemane, während seine Jünger schlafen und sich aus dem Stadttor bereits die Soldaten nähern, um ihn gefangen zu nehmen. Ausgehend von dieser bewegenden Szene entwickelt sich im Altar dann eine ganze Predigt aus Stein, deren Zentrum die Botschaft von der schenkenden Barmherzigkeit Gottes ist.
Neben seiner reichen ornamentalen und figürlichen Ausstattung beeindruckt der Altar vor allem durch seine künstlerische und geistliche Tiefe.
Da vom Altar bei der Enttrümmerung fast zweitausend Einzelteile geborgen werden konnten, war seine Rekonstruktion möglich. Somit besteht der heutige Altar zu 80 Prozent aus historischem Material.
