๐Ÿ˜Š I breathe in the wonderfulness of "the great outdoors"

everyday outside my back door. Front door as well, but the back hasn't got a paved road or traffic. This week I am sure the haying will begin in the field. If the forecast provides a few days of no rain, the cutting, fluffing and baling will begin.

52 Weeks: 2025 Edition: Week 20: The Great Outdoors

Mid-Spring Greenery abounds in New England

27th February 2020:

Not at all well, have gone down with a very nasty tummy bug and feel very green.

Just managed to get a couple of photos that worked and overlaid them in PhotoScape.

I shall do my best to look at everyone's photos, but will be concentrating on the 2020 one photo a day group, but I'll catch up with you all, when I feel better.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

Chrysanthemums (/krษชหˆsรฆnฮธษ™mษ™m/), sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae. They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. Countless horticultural varieties and cultivars exist.

The name "chrysanthemum" is derived from the Ancient Greek: ฯ‡ฯฯ…ฯƒฯŒฯ‚ chrysos (gold) and Ancient Greek: แผ„ฮฝฮธฮตฮผฮฟฮฝ anthemon (flower).

Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC. Over 500 cultivars had been recorded by 1630. By the year 2014 it was estimated that there are now over 20,000 cultivars in the world and about 7,000 cultivars in China. The plant is renowned as one of the Four Gentlemen in Chinese and East Asian art. The plant is particularly significant during the Double Ninth Festival.

Chrysanthemum cultivation began in Japan during the Nara and Heian periods (early 8th to late 12th centuries), and gained popularity in the Edo period (early 17th to late 19th century). Many flower shapes, colours, and varieties were created. The way the flowers were grown and shaped also developed, and chrysanthemum culture flourished. The Imperial Seal of Japan is a chrysanthemum and the institution of the monarchy is also called the Chrysanthemum Throne. A number of festivals and shows take place throughout Japan in autumn when the flowers bloom. Chrysanthemum Day (่Šใฎ็ฏ€ๅฅ Kiku no Sekku) is one of the five ancient sacred festivals. It is celebrated on the 9th day of the 9th month. It was started in 910, when the imperial court held its first chrysanthemum show.

On a fun drive to Osoyoos we passed this fun ivy monster. What may have been an accident has turned into a tourist attraction!

We timed our trip to England to see the Chelsea Flower Show. For a flower lover, this is a must-see event, but maybe only once.

Here are Vibrant Feeling Green and Anastasia White chrysanthemums.

Taken for Week 24, Starting Wednesday June 10th 2020, 52 Weeks: The 2020 Edition theme 'Feeling Green'.

These are grapes in my greenhouse. Green at the moment but will turn red in a month or two.

Less time than it takes to say it, less tears than it takes to die; I've taken account of everything, there you have it. I've made a census of the stones, they are as numerous as my fingers and some others; I've distributed some pamphlets to the plants, but not all were willing to accept them. I've kept company with music for a second only and now I no longer know what to think of suicide, for if I ever want to part from myself, the exit is on this side and, I add mischievously, the entrance, the re-entrance is on the other. You see what you still have to do. Hours, grief, I don't keep a reasonable account of them; I'm alone, I look out of the window; there is no passerby, or rather no-one passes (underline passes). You don't know this man? It's Mr. Same. May I introduce Madam Madam? And their children. Then I turn back on my steps, my steps turn back too, but I don't know exactly what they turn back on. I consult a schedule; the names of the towns have been replaced by the names of people who have been quite close to me. Shall I go to A, return to B, change at X? Yes, of course I'll change at X. Provided I don't miss the connection with boredom! There we are: boredom, beautiful parallels, ah! how beautiful the parallels are under God's perpendicular.

A very quick & simple shot tonight, iโ€™m not feeling well (again), in fact iโ€™m really feeling green.

I donโ€™t know what it is but since Iโ€™ve lost lots of weight, and dramatically improved my health, I now seem to catch very little bug that floats past. Who would think that becoming much healthier would result in using more sick days !

But I canโ€™t complain too much, a few extra years on my life is definitely worth a few more sick days along the way.

[and I didn't need that big needle she's wielding !]

for the sake of this month's one object scavenger hunt, Tiny was prepared to sink to the bowels of the fish tank. He was feeling a little green ...

Then Al decided it was time to go climb a tree. Climbing is hard when you have very short arms and legs so I gave him a lift up. He sat up there and thought about being green.

Our amazing models, what we put them through. We can't than k them enough for the fun and their williness to try anything we ask. Love you both for it!!!

The peaches are starting to, well, peach.

Dining room window and new patch of flowers.

Hidden part of front yard, along my bathroom window, and on the street side of the back fence. It NEEDS a bench and an arbor, don't you think:?
