Heading in to Federation Square, instantly recognizable to anyone who knows Melbourne. Based on no evidence whatsoever, I assume they were going to the Ian Potter Centre which houses the Australian art collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. Which is where I had just come from.
The golden glow radiates welcome warmth on a Winter's day. Melbourne's The Light in Winter festival offers abstraction possibilities up close.
Lots of people enjoying the Christmas Lights at Federation Square. Christmas may be over for another year but the lights will return next year. fedsquare.com/christmas-square
Federation Square buildings from the Yarra River showing the crazy glass. I rather like these glassed areas. This one is the Deakin Edge Theatre. fedsquare.com/event-space/the-edge. You can faintly see a reflection of the Eureka Tower in the glass. 5/100
FedSquare needs a few letters to tell us what & who it is. I am not certain why all the colours but it did look good, I felt like moving the signs telling one not to climb on the letters!

The Northern Territory Festival of Light, Parrtjima is showing at Fed Square for the only a couple of nights and drawing crowds. It showed from 8pm -11pm on Friday and Saturday. I loved the colours, shapes and music. The kids enjoyed it too.

Looking across the Yarra to Fed Square. Cold night: so cold, the legs on my tripod froze and could not be unlocked until the following day.
My favourite building in Melbourne, it is a great HDR subject with all the lines, angles and glass. This was taken just before Christmas while decorated with the large red balls. I tried this shot last year and had trouble getting a sharp shot as the balls move slightly in whatever breeze comes in the entrance.
