James White, a contractor of many historic buildings in Carberry, Manitoba built this standout, small-community, 2 ½ story Queen Anne Revival house for his family in 1900. The contrast in color between the red and decretive white brick are stunning in addition to the white of the wrap-around two-story veranda.
The exterior detailing was more ornate when the house was built, especially the main floor veranda with its arches, the veranda spindlework supports, other detailing between the two verandas to avoid the current smooth appearance of the horizontal board, and the bargeboards. Also, there was another dome on the roof in the south east corner. See the link for pictures of the original house in the linked publication.

The current restored version of the house is now is an element of the Carberry Plains Museum.

For the last few months, I have been working tirelessly at destroying my anonymity for the purpose of selling cameras. The responses I’ve been getting are mixed – mostly trolls in the comments section when I release a new product, but also an encouraging bunch of sales.
It’s...

Even though people keep asking me to create a book I’ve never really planned on doing so. All that changed after a conversation with good old Nils Karlson. We were talking about why we love analogue photography and one point raised was “getting your hands on your work; feeling...

I have always built cameras, machines and models for fun. Never anything that I thought I could sell, just to use and enjoy myself and possibly to share with a friend or two.
A while back I bought a 3D printer to use as a CNC carriage. I wanted to mount a laser on it, so I could cut PCB’s...

Street photography is a mercurial practice of ritual, patience, and spending endless hours with your own thoughts as you stalk a city’s sidewalks. It is focusing on life in motion! It is the practice of seeking out something that may or may not happen. Taking photographs becomes a way of life; a ...

Kosmo Foto started life back in 2012 as Zorki Photo through my love of film photography. Some people collect Contaxes and Leicas; I collected Zenits and Zorkis. If you said the creation of the blog was partly fuelled by an interest in Soviet cameras, you’d be completely right.
I started...

I’ve always been fascinated by the cinematic look of movies. One of the many factors that go into making a movie look “cinematic” is the type of lenses that are used and there is one special type of lens that is almost exclusively used in cinema: the anamorphic lens.
Anamorphic lenses are quite u...

The Myopic Me project started out, as most things in my life do, on a whim. We had a podcast to record, I was thinking of things we could discuss and the idea of Ade (Sunny 16 Podcast co-host) and I undertaking six-month projects popped into my head. Neither of us had attempted putting together...
