McLaren Falls has some interesting attractions, including many many water birds and sheep! This fellow just observed us for awhile and went back to shading himself with his friend the pukeko in the background. Unfortunately the day was so hot they were not keen to come into the light for the photo. Sorry Dixie Day this is the only photo of the pukeko I took for the day, at least you can see its shape lol. We are so used to seeing them we never think others want to see too.

"There's always some killing you gotta do around the farm"... I'm not proud, but this is reality. I've been trying to catch this guy ever since I lost 12 chickens in one night last year. #farmlife #sigh

The the Jackson Family's 1500 acre property developed, it contained not only large farm fields, and a grain mill. It also developed a saw Mill, where Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson was known to work, a General Store and a Blacksmith shop. It was in many respects not just a farm, it was a community. This shot, hopefully recalls that community feel.
