I was immediately drawn to this mannequin head with her fancy hat and feather boa. Shot in the same antique shop as a couple of my other mannequin shots posted previously.

Oh boy, so many rolls are piling up in my photo cabinet, waiting to be developed. I only have a two-reel tank so it will take a bit of time to process them all. But I should finish all that before I take off to France because, well, I'll be back with crazy amount of rolls... :D

And I really gotta go down to darkroom soon. There are many many prints I wanna make...

DOT Art and the Garment District Alliance presented “Fancy Animal Carnival” a series of seven sculptures installed within the pedestrian plazas along Broadway between 36th Street and 41st Street in Manhattan by Taiwanese artist Hung Yi. The life sized pieces represent distorted animal forms painted with brightly colored surreal, narrative-like designs pulled from different cultural backgrounds. Hung Yi is known for his three dimensional animated paintings on baked enamel surfaces. The enamel coating disguises the welded steel plates that serve as the interior structure of the animals. He has exhibited his large scale works internationally, most recently in San Francisco, but “Fancy Animal Carnival” marks his first exhibition in New York City. InSian Gallery and the Emmanuel Fremin Gallery partnered with the Alliance to assist in the transportation of the sculptures from Taiwan to the United States. The Garment District Alliance has been a partner of the DOT Art Program for the past six years.

One evening we had both Dinuguan and Mungo for dinner. I didn't want to pick one of the other to put on top of my rice, so I made two piles of rice and topped one with Dinuguan and the other with Mungo. Somehow, I ended up making my plate look kind of like something you get at a really fancy restuarant with small portions, but high prices.

2nd location we visited on our 3-day Germany trip. We were only 10 minutes on the property looking for an entrance when we got caught by a guard. After a short discussion we were allowed to walk outside the buildings. We were told that we could never get into the building. Yeah right, we'll see. After some time and a cat and mouse game with the guard we found an entrance and got in!

Heilstätten OL was built in 1902 as a children's sanatorium. They were treated for tubercolosis and other infections. The air and surroundings there would help them heal. Later on also a women's sanatorium was built on the premises and in World War I and II it was used as a military hospital. There are also known stories about doing surgical tests on Jewish woman out of a nearby concentration camp. Hitler and his SS commandments also rested here to heal and enjoy the fresh air.

After the World War the Russians used it as a hospital and later on to home the Soviet soldiers. In 1993 they left here and nobody came back in return...

Soon this location will be renovated into a fancy hotel and holiday homes.
