Harran is famous for its traditional "beehive" adobe houses, constructed entirely without wood. The design of these makes them cool inside, suiting the climatic needs of the region, and is thought to have been unchanged for at least 3,000 years. Some were still in use as dwellings until the 1980s. However, those remaining today are strictly tourist exhibits, while most of Harran's population lives in a newly built small village about 2 kilometres away from the main site.

The photo shows how these houses look from inside since they are now mostly used to attract tourists as cafes and souvenir shops.

Vanmiddag nog even een bezoek gebracht aan het beroemdste huisje van Goeree-Overflakkee.

Altijd weer de vraag hoe lang staat het nog?

Thanks for your visit, comments and/or faves.

Perhaps the most famous view with Prague Castle and the St Vitus Cathedral on the hill. My first attempt at a blue hour shot, only heard about it a few months ago, still not used a tripod. This was taken from a river side restaurant, every table was taken by 5.00 pm.

Then as the sky darkened, cameras came out & you could not move or see the bridge for all the people, tripods & selfie shooters.

Great watching the more professional photographers with their multiple shots, long exposures & different filters.

One even felt sorry for me, looking at my expensive camera balanced on railings, he offer the use of his tripod, too late already taken this, not bad for a first attempt

It's nice to be famous, isn't it. (Taken at Warehouse 21)

Those famous words, uttered by Dr. Strange in Marvel's Avengers Infinity War, have now become true for the big blue western railroad. Today, the railroad officially filed its intent to terminate its lease with the Surface Transportation Board. We are now down to the final months of the railroad. Need to make it a great final stand.

How many of my Flickr Friends not living in the USA have ever heard of The Corner Bar and Grill? - 0

How many of those living in the USA have ever heard of The Corner Bar and Grill? - 0

How many of those living in Virginia have ever heard of The Corner Bar and Grill? - 0

This little restaurant is located in Lively, Virginia. According to the last census there are 54 permanent residents in Lively. If you notice the sign in the right window, it says, “World Famous Corner Bar and Grill.”

I can pretty much guarantee that of the 54 permanent residents in Lively there are probably at least 5 that have never heard of it! So, how did it get to be world famous? The food is good, but nothing that one would cross the pond for. Also, the banners state that is located in uptown Lively, Va. Lively is a crossroads of which this restaurant occupies one corner, the north. (So I guess technically it is in uptown Lively).

Now, don’t rush right out and buy your plane tickets. The crowds are not knocking the door down to get in. You have plenty of time.

Naruko is famous for the hot spring and the canyon.

Especially we can enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery at the canyon.

When I arrived at the parking area, a light drizzle was falling.

After I had some shots, I decided to come back home.

At that moment , the sky cleared up and it broke into sunshine.

And the vivid autumn cliff apeared just before my eyes.

I introduce some photos.

I hope you enjoy the autumn view of Naruko Cayon filled with the autumn trees.

Eastern Osprey

Pandion haliaetus

Well, famous to birdy nerds anyway! It is not that often you go searching for a famous sighted bird and find it on your first go.

I headed down to Werribee River, despite the ominous clouds and promise of rain to see what I could see. Parked in the car park and what did I spy? Surely not the Osprey sitting in an open branch in front of the car park eating its lunch. Happy Days.

It was very windy and we were still some distance away so not tack sharp and the head feathers abit blown out.

Still, a rare treat indeed.

Edensor (pronounced ‘Enzer’) is a small but pretty village situated within the grounds of the Chatsworth House estate in the Peak District National Park.

The original village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, at which time it was located along the River Derwent, where the buildings were visible from Chatsworth House. This view displeased the then Duke of Devonshire, William Cavendish, however, and between 1838 and 1842 the entire village was dismantled. Many of the residents were moved to the nearby Chatsworth villages of Beeley and Pilsley, and the planning and building of a new village, over the brow of a hill and out of sight of Chatsworth House, was managed by the famed architect Sir Joseph Paxton.

Only one of the houses, Park Cottage, was allowed to remain in its original position, reputedly because its elderly tenant at the time did not want to move and the Duke took pity on him.

The village is made up of a charming, slightly eccentric mixture of different house styles, from Tudor to Norman, with Swiss-style cottages and Italian-style villas. Rumour has it that the architect who worked with Paxton to produce the designs for the houses, John Robertson, presented the Duke with a selection of house styles to choose from at a time when he was particularly busy, and the Duke – rather distractedly – chose ‘one of each’.

The original church of St Peter’s dated back to the 12th Century. However, in the mid-19th Century it was rebuilt and expanded for the 7th Duke of Devonshire, and its beautiful spire now dominates the skyline. The churchyard contains a number of graves of the Chatsworth’s Cavendish family, including a memorial to Kathleen Kennedy, sister of the former US president John F Kennedy, who was the wife of William Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington. The churchyard also contains the grave of Sir Joseph Paxton, the famous architect of the Crystal Palace in London.

Reddish Egret (egretta rufescens) ~ Pinellas County, Florida

A small fish just moments before its demise courtesy of a reddish egret. Looking at the fish, there appears to be a final statement being made. Perhaps those words are, "I egret nothing!"

Gaztelugatxe, the famous island with an hermitage on top, nowadays it's a touristy mess in high season, 10 years ago no one had heard of it except photographers. Daytime long exposure with the big stopper, I'm not very happy with the result, the waves are too overexposed.

……Coalport was famous for its China works, this 19th century relic is in fine fettle that would have heated using coal. Enjoyed a little circular walk up & down the River Severn from Jackfield to Coalport and back. Utah has five famous national parks, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches and Zion. Plus several impressive national monuments, recreation areas and state parks.

This shot was taken in none of those places. I spotted this formation along a dusty road in a remote area in the far southern part of the state. Some of the most impressive cross-bedding I've seen. Mile for mile, southern Utah is among the most scenic places in the U.S.

Following the last couple of posts it seems I'm in a Southwestern U.S. theme.

In her last days [Emily Dickinson] was only able to write short notes, and her “briefest last message,” according to her niece, Martha, contained the ominous and poetic last words: “I must go in; the fog is rising.”
