A chilly spring morning in the Alabama Hills sounds great right now, instead of 100+ degrees.

Happy 4th of July and be happy & be safe out there :-)
Today I married my best friend, my partner, my love… my support, my best part of myself.
Our wedding was everything we wanted- it was surrounded by family with our children standing at the altar with us. It was rustic and centered in the mountains of a National park, and best of all- we got to say "I do" from here to forever after...

I read "A Fine Balance" about 4 years ago. It's a book that stuck in my mind. I often think of the character's & their difficult lives.
"Family Matters" was on my "to read" list. I saw it at the Used Book store & snagged. I'm enjoying it.
This evening was my mom's turn to cook for family dinner. Baked seasoned salmon and grilled asparagus, and a lot of laughs at the dinner table is what family dinner is all about!

My father has been really sick for the last little while, so we were not sure if we would even be able to have Father's Day, but I was relieved that he was up to going to church and letting us cook for him!
Take every moment you can, for before you know it there will not be an opportunity...

I've been busy with family matters but tonight we made some time to take in a sunset at the beach. The weather wasn't cooperative but there were crowds of people making the best of it. While I was photographing, someone called out and wanted to know if I was a professional. He had his family along and they were visiting for a few days. Introducing himself as "Fast Eddie," he told me he "lived for his two sons but his ex..... well, that was another story." But they were there to have fun and I gave him some advice on places to go.
Sunday morning we all jumped in my truck and drove out to our Wedding Chapel location in Smoky Mountain National Park. We wanted to see what the parking would be like (very limited), and the drive to the church in Cades Cove. The church will be perfect, but my bride will be even better.
After the walk through we went to check out the restaurant that will cater our reception. The BBQ was really good, and so more details down and we are ready to go. 104 days!!!

While Forge and Multiple Man cautiously look for Havok and Polaris, Quicksilver decides to speed up the process.
Another figure in the Family Matters set. And I have to say, I think this whole set's a win. Quicksilver's great because the body mold he uses allows me to pose him like this without putty, which is pretty sweet for a character whose mutant power is running really fast.
Have you picked up the Family Matters set, yet? What do you think of it? And if not, why?
Have fun, and happy collecting!
Tonight we celebrated Christmas a little early as my wife is headed down to spend some time with family before Christmas.
As is our tradition, we crafted a nice unique meal with new recipes and flavor combinations.
Dinner was a roast beef with chive potatoes and a cheese corn au gratin dish. For dessert we had eggnog tarts, and it was the perfect way to close a great meal together.
For me, that's what family is all about (coming together), and the hope we have is the reason for the season.

While traveling up to Maryland I was able to have a family date with my fiancé's parents one of the nights we were there. It was a great time with some great food and fun. It had also been a while since I had been to an Outback Steakhouse, but it was very good!

And just like that, we are off for another adventure. This time we will be headed down to Alabama to spend a few days with her kids during their College Spring Break. I have missed this smile on my face, and I found it in Maryland of all places, where she has been caring for her mother. Never take a moment for granted- cherish every single one of them.

Tonight we went out for a family dinner with her parents, and had some wonderful food in-between watching the Masters Golf Tournament on our iPhones. Smoked meatloaf with whipped mashed potatoes was almost as good as the company!

Happy Easter! We had a big family gathering which was fun to see people we don't get to see too often. We made lemon and orange mini cheesecakes, and a sweet potato casserole. All of the food was good, and it was a nice day out for an Easter Egg hunt.

Another one of my ambitions and goals for 2025 is to have more family time, and what better way to spend time with family than to make some tasty food?!
My fiancé and I hosted my parents for some homemade roasted tomato & basil soup with some grilled cheese sandwiches to go with it.
I am hoping many more experiences like this in 2025, as well as more tasty foods to go along with the family dinner dates. 8 days into the year and I am on the third recipe for the year!

We turned in our signed marriage certificate today, and got two copies for our records. I feel it was official when we said "I Do", but the State of Tennessee needs more than that apparently!

By all means, this night should have been a lifetime dream…
I grew up from a very young age listening to America's album Holiday. The record was a gift from my brother, and we all loved and listened to it over and over. I never thought I'd get to see them in concert, but at last this past April we found them on tour and bought tickets. Once Beccy and I got tickets, my parents mentioned how much they'd love to see them as well- so that became their birthday presents this year.
This was such a great concert, and it was great to sing along with all their songs... plus it was great to have such a grand adventure right after our adventure of getting married!

Our granddaughter Alice with her amazing curls ready for her Christmas lunch !
Taken with my new camera bought on Ebay-a Fuji XT-1--with a 35 mm prime lens I already had but didn't use much-I'll be using this combo more now-its lovely
Family outing number 30 for the year was a memorial birthday lunch to remember my grandma. Today would have been her birthday, and to celebrate her we went out for some local Mexican food… she would have had chicken fried steak and a margarita... though we didn't eat chicken fried steak, I had chicken wings and we learned why they call it "chicken fried steak" when it's made out of beef (because it is made in the same method as fried chicken).

Family outing number 25 for the year was breakfast for my birthday… this spot was a hole in the wall diner that was just awesome. We always try and find unique places in lieu of chain restaurants, so this was a gem amongst our findings.

When I moved to this small mountain town in 2018, there was a very old Shoney's at the base of the mountain. Soon it was "closed for remodeling" for a few years, and then they began building a new mystery restaurant.
The new undetermined restaurant broke ground in 2021 or 2022, and it literally just opened last week. Tonight, we had a family dinner date to celebrate our return to Tennessee, and to check out the food.
The food was really good, but there were opportunities (as expected). I assumed they needed time to work out the kinks, but it's nice to have good options in this small town.

Today the entire family went to spend the day at Dollywood, but that is not what this post is about. This post is a story about love- not the kind of love between a man and a woman, but about healing.
My wife taught me a lot about loving, healing, and forgiving… she really changed me from the inside out. Proof is in this picture. In this picture you can see my wife and daughter… but also you can see Beccy’s goddaughter- who is the daughter of her ex-husband and his wife.
His ex-wife is also in this picture- and she was the witness to our wedding as she and Beccy are near best friends now. Also in this picture is my former mother in law, a woman I have not spoken to in well over a decade, but when I heard that she might be coming on the trip- I told my daughter she absolutely positively had to be there with us- at the wedding, the reception, and anything we did as a family.
I was not always this way- and to be fair most marriages that end do not stay connected. My wife is the exception to the rule, and we have all grown through the challenges of this life. I would never be the person I am without her or the changes she has inspired in me as a person- and this picture will forever remind me of that!

We had our Tennessee Thanksgiving on Sunday, since we will be traveling for Thanksgiving next week. We had such a great meal, and somehow, despite eating mainly veggies for our dinner, we managed to leave way too stuffed!

And you thought the Hulk was the Avengers big gun.
Several Avengers look on as the Scarlet Witch prepares to rain chaos magic down on their enemies!
Another shot featuring a figure from the exclusive Family Matters 3-Pack. I wasn't sure what I'd think of Wanda's paint in-person. I think I still prefer the flat colors, but these pearlescent colors look great under the photo lights! And that head sculpt is incredible.
Have you gotten the Family Matters set yet? What do you think of Scarlet Witch?
Have fun, and happy collecting!
We had a great gathering of the Maryland/Pennsylvania/Delaware area family to celebrate our wedding and some family members beating cancer.
It's always great to spend time with family, especially when not everyone could make it to the wedding we had. Also bonus: we got nifty sashes with "Just Married" on them, and somehow I'll figure out a way to add those to my Webcam Wednesday meetings (haha!)

Celebrating the fifteenth family-centric date of the year, we came together to have salmon and steamed asparagus. I showed my fiancé some old-school pictures from my family business days, and that's the sign of true love: being able to show embarrassing pictures of yourself. All in all, we had a great time as usual!
