Een standaard driespan voor de volle ertstrein rijdt vol vermogen richting Kijfhoek.

Door de ombouw van de 6511 t/m 6520 naar Vlaamse reus was de trefkans van een NS Cargo-rode 6400 buiten de lijnen naar België niet bijzonder groot. Het duo 6519+6516 raakte echter verdwaald in de ertsdienst en kreeg daarbij gezelschap van de eveneens cargorode 6454. De Vlaamse reuzen hebben inmiddels de sticker met Railion-opschriften gekregen, de 6454 heeft nog de fraaie NS Cargo-teksten.

De eerder als losse loc naar Kijfhoek gereden 6434 en 6490 rijden met een lege ertstrein terug naar de Maasvlakte.
Vanaf 2001 kwamen in verschillende leveringen een groot aantal nieuwe erstwagens type Fallrs in dienst. In Venlo staat een nog nieuw setje op het goederenemplacement. Op de voorgrond twee in Duitsland gereviseerde twee-assige containerdraagwagens Lgns. Bij de revisie van deze uit 1996 stammende wagens is de tekst NS Cargo overgeschilderd.
Op vol vermogen slepen Han, Wim en Geert een volle ertstrein uit de tunnel van Best. De tweede en derde wagens achter de koppelwagen zijn nieuwe rode twaalfassige wagens van het type Fallrs, welke sinds begin 2001 in de ertstreinen rijden.
Op het kort daarvoor geopende nieuwe tweede gedeelte van de spoortunnel in Best neemt een beladen ertstrein de klim omhoog.
Slechts twee 6400'en voor een lege ertstrein, maar wel met drie koppelwagens (officieël overgangswagens geheten) achter de locomotieven.

De 189 041 is, met de 189 033 + 189 034 van DB Schenker in opzending, met een uit geheel nieuwe ertswagens type Fallrs bestaande omgeleide lege ertstrein onderweg vanuit het Duitse Dillingen via Venlo naar de Maasvlakte en passeren hier op 1 augustus 2011 ter hoogte van de bosrand, vlak achter station
Deurne.

We are on holiday in Rocky Mountain National Park, and the weather has challenged us.
Today we took the Fall River Road (partially unpaved) from about 8,000 ft to about 12,000 feet. Let's say that I was skeptical since above about 9000 feet all appeared to be shrouded in cloud/fog.
But Eric was not to be deterred by my petty whining, and promised sun at the top. It was a loooonnnngggg trek on an intimidating one-way dirt road, but at about 11,500 feet (during a thunderstorm complete with lightning, thunder and copious amounts of hail) the sun did indeed peek through, and guess what! This was our view!
Unbelievable. I was stupified by the beauty, grabbed my Canon ("Eric, I'm going to ruin my camera") and shot this guy - several times. The image imperfections are in fact, the hail that was still pounding us.
WOW!
Stay tuned. With Eric as my guide, this could be a very interesting vacation......
