This image of a flatten flying insect placed on a newspaper photo was meant to be a joke, but it is also a sort of macabre metaphor for the lethal impact of the airborne Covid-19 virus that was created by gain of function modifications done at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And now the virus is morphing into new more contagious and lethal variants, stimulated (ironically) by the virus's agenda in this war of escalation to defeat the resistance of the immunological vaccines.

Earl Sterndale is tiny. To classify as a village it has just minimal criteria for qualification. There is a nice little church, a pub, a telephone box, a post box, a school for 29 pupils from surrounding farms and a handful of stone built houses. It is set in a lovely position at 1100 feet, above the River Dove, in the middle of nowhere in the Derbyshire Peak District. (By the way the Peak District is characterised by flat topped hills and not by peaks. The 'peak' name actually comes from the Anglo-Saxon Pecsætan tribe, the "hill dwellers", who inhabited this area). And that's it. But there's more
The village church, dedicated to St Michael and containing a Saxon font, was built in 1828 on the site of an ancient chapel. It was destroyed in 1941 by a German bomb, and only restored in 1952. Quite how or why the Germans managed to score a direct hit on the church in WWII is unknown. But given the village's small size, remote location, and insignificance in military terms, it was quite some achievement by the Nazi bomb-aimer. Of course it would have been a more serious matter if the bomb had hit the village pub just 70 yards away.
The pub is reputed to be over 400 years old and was in the ownership of the the Heathcote family for over 300 years. It is widely known as it is unusually named "The Quiet Woman". I was walking through the village on my way to photograph some sheep and a hill, when I spotted it with its somewhat macabre sign depicting a woman without a head, and promised myself to Google the place and find out the history of the name when I got home. I wanted to find out about this quiet woman as they are normally considered quite rare, and of course, highly desirable. Naturally, I do know one and wondered if Google might reveal something about the Earl Sterndale quiet woman that might prove useful in understanding the female psyche of this other one better. When I found the Derbyshire Heritage website it did not read well. The detail was brief. The naming of the pub "The Quiet Woman" is said to refer to a too talkative woman who was decapitated as a consequence. Naturally I was quite shocked. I know things were a bit different in those days 400 years ago but surely they could have just gagged her or put some wadding in their ears? Further searches revealed she was actually the landlord's nagging wife and locally she was known as "Chattering Charteris". The story goes that her husband lost control one day, as she was apparently even ranting in her sleep, and cut off her head, to the approval of the villagers who all chipped in to pay for her headstone.
Clearly this quiet woman was very unlike the one I know. Not least because she still has a beautiful head on her shoulders but also because I have heard no complaints of her chattering.....so far. But it did make me wonder about the village, so isolated and quiet. There wasn't a soul in sight when I arrived on Boxing Day morning, but I did think I saw more than one curtain twitch at the cottage windows as I went by. But this story about cutting off a woman's head all seemed a bit far fetched and perhaps the locals of Earl Sterndale are a bit inbred and weird. Personally, I felt far more at home talking to the friendly, and chatty, flock of beautiful sheep on the hillside opposite Chrome Hill and Parkhouse.
I'm guessing that the pub was named a long time ago by a chauvinistic pub landlord who considered that women should be seen and not heard and the story of beheading was concocted to ensure they always behaved in his pub. Perhaps he had something to do with the village wakes too. For they are held on the Friday nearest to the 11th of October each year and tradition has it, that the person who is most drunk on the Friday before the Wakes, is elected mayor for the year. I'm guessing here, but provided it's not a woman.
No, thank God NO ! This is an example of "alternative Truth" or fake news. In reality, these people are standing in line and enjoying a BBQ on a splendid autumn saturday afternoon.

For the conspiracy-inclined: this office of drug barons is located in Temple Place, a small street near Temple tube station and the area called Temple. Which comes from the historic location of the Order of the Knights of the Temple (a.k.a. Knights Templar or tamplieri). They were an incredibly powerful religious and military organisation in the Middle Ages some say - economically powerful, too) and are associated with other/later powerful orders and societies, including the mythical Illuminati and similar 'best-friend' groups of the conspiracy theorists.
This building is flanked on one side by the IISS (unrelated to ISIS, or perhaps not entirely?) - the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a think-tank credited with engineering (and then re-engineering) the Cold War and various other wars of recent history and our days. On the other side is an architectural gem, the former residence of Lord Waldorf Astor (of Waldorf Astoria fame, one of the wealthiest men of his time with commensurate political influence). Next to that, the former campus of the medieval knights is nowadays occupied by the legal profession - law firms and various related entities, some say - today's 'templars' or 'Illuminati' if measured by wealth and influence...
All these, including the tobacco firm, are concentrated in this historic and highly symbolic area by absolute coincidence ;)

The problem with both is not primarily the lying and the hiding. Things would be easy if this were the whole story. The problem is that both contain elements of truth, likelihoods, and persuasive imagination. This is what makes them attractive. The immediate remedy (if there is one) is not to repeat and attack the falsehoods, but to speak the truth, publicly.

WHY FAKE NEWS? Simply put: They make a small fortune for teenagers. Believe it or not, teenagers and “fake news entrepreneurs”—people who intentionally make money from the proliferation of fake news stories—create these “click-bait” type headlines to pull traffic to their sites. Traffic equals money. Just like in the traditional days of advertising on broadcast TV and radio, viewers and listeners equal ad dollars.
Buzzfeed researched some of the top fake news sites, stating that many of them are based in Macedonia, Romania, Russia, and yes, some are in the US. They state that many of the Macedonian sites can earn $5,000 per month, and even up to $3,000 per day. A damn-good pay day in the US, in Macedonian, that is a fortune.
