The second side of the paper. I wasn't trying to seriously draw it with any of these, but I was trying to get the basic idea laid out.
The hilt, the knot, and then the blade.
I put footnotes, mentioning everything to know about the blade, although in this scan, I'm sure it's hard to read.
I know what the vine sword looks like in my head. As clear as day.
I KNOW there's nothing else like it, anywhere else, that it's my idea, completely and totally unique to me. (The name? 'Course not. The DESIGN? Yes, yes it is! :) )
I just can't draw it.
(Shame, considering how often I use it in my novels...)

FAIL #1: Driving through the institute's lawn and newly sprayed seed/fertilizer green stuff.
FAIL #2: Getting stuck in the mud.
FAIL #3: Getting stuck while the institute is having its annual fire drill and getting laughed at by 500 people.

Idea FAIL. It is so cold here I thought I'd take a picture of my steaming mug of tea out on the back deck. Two mistakes:
(1) There is so much white out there it's difficult to capture the [white] steam on that background.
(2) It is so cold the liquid chilled too quickly.
Anyway, I'm afraid for the next few days the pictures will not be showing me acting on the first part of my 2014 resolution (More motion, less poison). Temps near zero Farenheit don't have me yearning to walk anywhere beyond from the kitchen stove to the wood stove in the living room. I guess I'll be holding on to those holiday pounds a few extra days.
This image failed because in this image the character is fiddling with his nose. I think this ruins the moment as he doesn't have the correct stance to emphasise this effect.

“Inis Fail” is one of Oliver Sheppard’s earliest works, dating back to 1901. It is made of bronze, and is described as the female personification of Ireland. It portrays Ireland as an "island of destiny." Sheppard (1865-1941) was in the minority of Irish Protestants who supported Irish independence.
The UPS guy has no trouble with the idea, even thanked me profusely for giving him a place to put stuff that was out of the rain.
The USPS postman is a little dimmer, apparently.
