The evening of the 5th day of our Rhine Cruise saw us leaving Koblenz and heading downriver towards Cologne, and it was time for some entertainment put on by the staff. What a fun evening!
This gal was supposed to be a circus tightrope walker, and got several gentlemen from the audience, including my husband, to hold the rope tight. After a number of failed attemps, since the fellows couldn't hold the rope tight when she tried to get on, she hauled out her wet laundry and proceeded to hang it on the tightrope turned clothesline! Walter Hunt (July 29, 1796 – June 8, 1859) was an American mechanic. He was born in Martinsburg, New York. Through the course of his work he became renowned for being a prolific inventor, notably of the lockstitch sewing machine (1833), safety pin (1849)] a forerunner of the Winchester repeating rifle, a successful flax spinner, knife sharpener, streetcar bell, hard-coal-burning stove, artificial stone, street sweeping machinery, the velocipede, and the ice plough.
Walter Hunt did not realize the significance of many of these when he invented them; today, many are widely-used products. He thought little of the safety pin, selling the patent for a paltry sum of $400 (roughly $10,000 in 2008 dollars) to the company W R Grace and Company, to pay a man to whom he owed $15. He failed to patent his sewing machine at all, because he feared that it would create unemployment among seamstresses. (This led to an 1854 court case when the machine was re-invented by Elias Howe; Hunt's machine shown to have design flaws limiting its practical use). In seeking patents for his inventions, Hunt used the services of Charles Grafton Page, a patent solicitor who had previously worked at the US Patent Office
Well, fail tables I guess is more like it. Forgot the beers, got bounced on every attempt, and my camera battery wasn't charged (DOH!) so only got these two blurry shots (not even from the right angle...these were actually goin downhill more than flat) before it died altogether. Fail. The night was saved by a few Young's Winter Warmers and Affligem Holidays ales at Doyle's after.

I found a recipe for perogies in a Russian cook book, and it made no sense to my intuition how it would work out... but I went with it, and I admittedly don't like it. These have ground beef filling (why? if you're making perogies, would you go with something so plain...) This dough baked to be like harder bread, and the ground beef on the inside dried up pretty bad. It was difficult to eat these without a drink on the side.

The back of our programs had paper airplane folding instructions on them for folks to through at us at the end of the ceremony. It was super fun and I couldn't stop laughing but it didn't translate in the photos. You can see one here at the top right corner.

TJ Slice promotes nutrition but apparently not safety as his shattered skull and exposed brain can attest.
Allison and I were playing Fast and the Furious Super Bikes when right before the game was about to finish, both of our machines crashed. And for different reasons.
Hers crashed with this error message and mine went into a DOS prompt.

Quando tirei, achei que estava muito boa, com bons detalhes, foco, composição divertida... Eu devia estar bêbado!
Tecnicamente, até que a foto está razoável, mas que escolha de cores é essa? O que é esse fundo azul? Coisa mais horrÃvel!
Sem contar que tem cenário demais pra pouca foto...
Tenho vergonha de um dia ter achado essa coisa boa.
