Far from any town, near an old, abandoned research facility, the sound of a door being blown off its hinges breaks the otherwise undisturbed silence.
Out of the dark, musty interior of the building, an orange mist slithers silently into the open. As it exits the building, it begins to coalesce, forming into a concentrated glob, and moving in an unnerving, unnatural manner, almost as if it were sentient, guided by a phantom mind...Having gathered itself into a single, undulating mass, the mist pauses mid-air for a moment, and then, in an instant, bolts off into the distance, headed straight toward the nearest farmstead..
Something has awoken... some thing.

This restroom is by the closed on-ramp to a boat launch on Lake Powell. The boat launch is not open because of low lake levels due to extreme drought.

Shortly after Canadian Pacific acquired the Delaware & Hudson, trains 557 and 558 between Buffalo and a new intermodal facility in Philadelphia were instituted. Here the power for Train 557 is putting together its train along Columbus Avenue in Philadelphia.
Located on the outskirts of Cedar City, Savage opened a state-of-the-art, full-service transload and storage facility on 74 acres of land, served by the Union Pacific Railroad. Due to its strategic location, the Cedar City operation is unique in Southern Utah.

On my first full day in Tokyo I took a subway to the Shinjuku district to catch our tour bus but deliberately got there about 90 minutes early. After finding the spot where I'd need to be when the bus arrived, I walked around taking photos. It was 6:30am and hardly anybody was around so I had the city streets to myself.
In any other city, a skyscraper like this would be a standout, but in Tokyo, a city of many skyscrapers, it almost blended in with everything else except for certain views, such as this one.

This BNSF oil train, like all oil trains on the Moffat, was loaded at the Transload facility in Wellington, UT. The train spent several hours tied down in the siding at Rocky, waiting for a recrew, which finally showed up.

The Waples-Platter Coffee Roaster stands as an excellent example of an early twentieth century industrial facility in Dallas. This was the third and grandest of the company's coffee roasters, and this facility was the last to remain.
In 1978, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This building is located near the West End on Lamar Street in Downtown Dallas.
