A Wapiti bull (Cervus canadensis) seemed intrigued with this calf for a few moments before moving on.
White-faced Ibis are not a common bird in central Alberta, but over the past few years we are seeing more of them in these parts.

The world of macro-photography has created a whole new set of challenges and adventures for me. I am really enjoying those challenges, especially when other wildlife photography opportunities are limited.

This species is endemic to the Chocó bioregion of western Colombia and western Ecuador, where it is an inhabitant of reasonably tall forest, plantations, and second growth, usually below 1200 m, although it ranges higher locally. The Rose-faced Parrot was formerly considered to be conspecific with the Brown-hooded Parrot (Pyrilia haematotis), from which the present species differs most clearly in the large pinky-red facial patch, outlined with darker feathers, and the lack of red feathering on the flanks and axillaries. Although considered to be generally uncommon, the species is capable of adapting to some degree of habitat modification. Like all of the genus Pyrilia, this species was until recently placed in the genus Pionopsitta.

We have several Black-faced working at our end of the bay at present.
Don't generally see them here that often, so it's a bonus

I believe it's true that together we are tall enough to face brave..♫

The dragonflies have finally and thankfully arrived providing a highly valued service in ridding the area of annoying flying pests. They, like most other things this year, seemed late in arriving but are now patrolling their territories in great numbers and very effectively. There is no more pleasant sight in the northwoods than seeing swarms of these notable creatures, knowing the results of their activity will yield a far more pleasant outdoors experience.
I spent a portion of yesterday chasing these guys around and may post a few more varieties tomorrow. This one peered at me over a ledge, providing a view of the last face many an insect sees.

Bergy bits float along the ancient blue face of Northeast Glacier opposite Stonington Island, Antarctica.
Face of the Olympian Hermes and its imprint in baking foil. The facsimile is simply surface and yet its form and shape trigger our emotional and communicative engagement. I need to think more about this. Photography, in the end, is about surfaces.

One of my german shepherd dog Cali,i nearly got her direct face, but she turned away as i clicked the shutter button.
Baking or aluminium foil. The facial surface gives a lot to think about. It is not just a personal or social and not even simply a historical affair. The face and its expression is like an imprint in the imaginary foil which surrounds the space-time continuum. The face answers and responds to the cosmos. If there is a creator, here is the face that says 'here I am, talk to me!'
