My Heritage is an intriguing genealogy website (still in beta) that features a face-recognition system. The system is still being developed, but the part of the site that’s live right now takes photos you upload and attempts to match them to photos in a database of 2,400 celebrities. It’s an interesting experiment, but judging from some of the results I received, the system still needs a lot of work…

So I decided to do something different, something edgy and new compared to what I normally produce for this, which is for now my last ever project for University.
CCTV is a controversial for most people while many say if you are doing nothing wrong what do you have to hide, whilst others just do not want to be watched and judged by the camera. But the camera can not judge only view, it is the cameras viewer that will pick up on a stereotype or a "shady looking" character. Did you judge these people? Did you wonder why the camera was following them? Or are these just one of the 70ish time a day we are caught on camera?

"Level of Confidence" is an art project to commemorate the mass kidnapping of 43 students from the Ayotzinapa normalista school in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico. The project consists of a face-recognition camera that has been trained to tirelessly look for the faces of the disappeared students. As you stand in front of the camera, the system uses algorithms to find which student's facial features look most like yours and gives a "level of confidence" on how accurate the match is, in percent.
Be working through some photos over the last few days (for something different of course) and part of my workflow is to use face recognition within Lightroom to identify people within photos so they can be tagged and easily located later.
