Walt Disney World, Epcot - 07/23/09
Monorail Black streaks from the monorail station at Epcot's Future World under a hot Florida sun.
What a fantastic location.
One of my first shots with my new gear - perfect for architecture.
I was a second time in Berlin and visited a lot of interesting locations. But you could easily spend a year there and you would not run out of motives...Berlin is really amazing!
I have stitched 3 high resulution 14mm photographs for this panorama.
The dome sits directly above the debating chamber. A mirrored cone at its centre directs light into the Reichstag, increasing the building’s energy efficiency and affording visitors a view of the parliamentary proceedings below. The dome itself can be visited by prior registration and is reached by two large steel ramps that curve up towards it in the form of a double helix.
Unfortunately, on my penultimate visit to Berlin, I was not able to visit the Reichstag dome because I had not registered online in good time. This time I was better prepared and so I was there at 7 p.m. - together with many visitors. The last entry is usually just before 10 p.m., but by 9 p.m. I was all alone in the dome. For whatever reason, nobody was allowed in after 8 p.m. and so I was alone with the security guards and was able to take photos undisturbed for two hours - what a coincidence and luck :-)
If you look closely, you can spot me in the reflection...
I'm predicting everyone's first thought on this image: "where's the monorail?" Obviously there isn't one because it was a test shot in preparation for when the monorail finally did pass by. I liked the image so much that I decided to keep it. I decreased the sharpness a bit to evoke a dreamy vibe.

Another tribute to the launch of the last flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis which is now successfully in Earth orbit. I thought that this abstract view evokes an orbital view.
Like many people, I watched the launch on the NASA website while at work. It was pouring rain here at the time of the launch so going out to see it wasn't an option.
Safe journey Atlantis!

My favorite way to travel when at Walt Disney World. The WDW Monorail System operates on a span of 14.7 miles and reaches speads of up to 40 mph. The EPCOT line, shown above, is comprised of 7.4 miles of track in the sky and brings guests to and from EPCOT and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).
Thanks for looking and please stand clear of the closing doors. Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas
I've been experimenting with different composite HDR techniques, and think I may have settled on a new one. Lightroom CC’s in-house app works pretty well, but the ghost removal is horrible compared to Photoshop or NIK. Doing a bit of both, where the output and color adjustments are done in Lightroom, and then compositing another output from Photoshop in areas that need some touch up. Liking the results so far. Image seems cleaner and more balanced. Please view at my website for full details and let me know what you think!
The 50th Monorail Monday shot has the distinction of being posted on America's 235th birthday!
Happy Independence Day to everyone in the USA! Have a fun and safe 4th of July!

This is one of those - in the right place at the right moment - shots. I remember looking down at the water and seeing the sunset reflection and the monorail track. It was the end of the day for us that day and we were leaving so I was trying to catch up with my group, so not a lot of time to wait around for a monorail to come by (I've waited as long as 10 minutes for one to come by before). Well, as luck would have it, sure enough I heard that whirring monorail sound that we all know and love - so I whipped out the camera and was able to get one off. If I would have had more time to adjust the settings, I probably would have taken a practice shot, which more then likely would have resulted in stopping down a couple f-stops and bringing the EV comp to 0. This probably would have resulted in a higher ISO (I was shooting in ISO Auto mode with minimum shutter speed 1/40, actually set up for the Three Caballeros boat ride in Mexico) but would have been fine because at least it would have been properly exposed and probably a little sharper. All in all though, I was able to turn a quick underexposed snap shot into something decent, I think.
Quick Exif:
Exposure: 1/40
Aperture: f/1.4
Focal Length: 50mm
ISO: 640

Cool water fountain details to help beat the heat. Here in Northeast Florida, it was a degree cooler today, 97 F (36 C). At least today we are getting cooled down with some intense thunderstorms.

Here’s a shot I don’t often take: from across the Lagoon. I think we were near Japan when I took this one. Thanks for looking 😀

IllumiNations 2000: Reflections of Earth premiered on October 1, 1999. Paul and I were fortunate to have been at EPCOT Center for the inaugural show. It was an instant favorite for both of us and we have seen it literally hundreds of times. Each time being just as special as the last.
This image was taken on May 1, 2010 while we waited for the lights to dim for the opening introduction to start the show...
"Good evening. On behalf of Walt Disney World, the place where dreams come true, we welcome all of you to Epcot and World Showcase. We've gathered here tonight around the fire as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us... to share the light... and to share a story. An amazing story as old as time itself, but still being written. And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. We hope you enjoy our story tonight: Reflections of Earth."
Thank you all for your sincere out pouring of support over the last few days. You've made the days more tolerable and comforting.

Attraction: Spaceship Earth
Area: Future World
Theme Park: Epcot
Location: Walt Disney World Resort
City: Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Date: December 10, 2015
Spaceship Earth in Epcot's Future World is a geosphere which is 165 feet in diameter, 180 feet high (it stands 15 feet off the ground), encompasses 2,200,000 cubic feet of space, weighs 15.5 million pounds, has an outside surface of 150,000 square feet, and is covered by 11,324-silvered facets on 954 triangular panels.
Impressive numbers to be sure. To show those numbers photographically, add people to the composition with Spaceship Earth looming overhead to show scale. Bringing those numbers to life.
Today's photo makes use of my stars technique I shared yesterday. Although I haven't posted anything new in a while I have been doing a bit of editing. One of the things I've particularly been focusing on lately are the highlights in my photos. I'm not a fan of the sharp transitions from midtones to highlights so I've been working on some techniques to help smooth those out. If you pay close attention to the water I think you'll see see how I gradated this out to get a smoother look. It's subtle, but every little improvement counts. Finally, in case you missed it yesterday, you can see how to make the stars pop in your photos at www.thetimethespace.com/making-stars-pop/

The premier of the Tron Legacy movie is this week! This makes the 21st Monorail Monday shot the fourth and final of the Tronorail series.
This shot, of the allusive yellow side of the Tronorail, was taken from the Tram-way on the walk back to my car.
