We sent a long time friend off to the airport today. We will miss you and best wishes to the road that lies ahead of you.
I've lost my best friend, she was also a member of our Flickr family, Daantje1704. (May 6 2020)
I'm off line for a while and will try to catch up with you all later.
Thanks!

The other day..Klara wanted to go yo our new Playing parc...we all went and with a basketball as well.I saw those beautiful children and invited them to play.Next day we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon together and we became friends.She is fr Brazil.
I have been weeks away from this man. I met him when Sheree and I were in Rhode Island. He was standing at the top of an escalator, pointing a camera at us.
I grew to love him in the period of four days. I grew to love him like a true friend.
Let me tell you a little about Brian. I tread carefully, because I don't want to betray any confidences. But Brian is utterly devoted to his wife Gina...which speaks volumes to me. It simply means that we understand each other...and the core values that rule our hearts.
Brian has undergone a (an?) horrific disease. It has cost him all senses of taste. But he can still smell and when he smells he remembers the way it used to taste and he is content with that. When he packed a lunch for Sheree and me on the train, he included a note. I never even got notes in my lunchbox from my mother.
I loved talking to him and I loved hearing what he thought about everything from the burial of Ted Kennedy to the plight of street people. Frankly, I miss him.
I think of Gina calling him to the computer, to read to him these things. I can see the room in my mind's eye. I know it well.
It makes me smile because I know as he hears them that our friendship is cemented. Brian: I think of you often. And I miss you. So there.
Here he is standing looking out at the ocean. I wonder what he is thinking.
I promised not to show his face...but I think this image shows the heart of my friend in Rhode Island.
Even after all these days, the impression he has left on my heart is as indelible as ink. I look forward to sitting quietly with you again, Brian, sipping a beer and listening to our wives talking happily together upstairs...and knowing all is well in their worlds.
He doesn't photograph stuff...but he helps those of us who do. So say hello to a hero of mine. His name is Brian.
Be well, dear friend.
Thank You, Friend
Thank you, friend, for all the things
That mean so much to me--
For concern and understanding
You give abundantly.
Thanks for listening with your heart;
For cheering me when I'm blue;
For bringing out the best in me;
And just for being you.
Thanks for in-depth conversation
That stimulates my brain;
For silly times we laugh out loud;
For things I can't explain.
For looking past my flaws and faults;
For all the time you spend;
For all the kind things that you do,
Thank you; thank you, friend.

I say friend as I have had the pleasure of actually working on this beauty from 1975 -1978 at RAF Waddington .Fitting the crew s lifesaving equipment ,Parachutes , Life Rafts and life jackets ..not to mention scooping up her HUGE parachute on deployment after landing !.. you didn't get much time on the runway either to do it ..
I have to add she is retiring from flying ,not being scrapped ,but will be available to view at the old RAF Finningley Air Base which is now Robin Hood Airport .
My good friend Mia needed some time to unwind and to be pampered for the weekend. We all need to find the time to be kind to yourself and learn to relax. I'm so glad that she came over and that we had such a great time. :)
Definitely the best vegan donuts I have ever had...their vegan nutella and custard was out of this world...a close second would be Voodoo Doughnuts but there are more vegan options there and the donuts are named after bands, which is super cool. Highly recommended if you are in Los Angeles!

"It is not what you give your friend, but what you are willing to give him that determines the quality of friendship."
M.Dixon Thayer.
Here's a shot of my old place at 814 Gregg Street. You can find another shot of this corner on this web site. A friend posed for me one night, but it's been so long, I can't remember who. I think it was perhaps Elise Knox, but I'm not sure. I notice that one of the LP's on the floor is from the old Angel label (via EMI), when they came in plain, brown wrappers. One of the books is THE ARMADA by Mattingly. There's also a small, black radio visible. I used to listen to WRR-FM on this. That's the Dallas, Texas classical station. The radio wasn't very good, and it would pick up interference from air traffic right in the middle of your favorite symphony or concerto. The vent on the wall is for a very old gas heater that still worked. I rented this half of a duplex from the Morrison family, 1975-1987, and they were wonderful landlords. I like to think of the chair she's sitting in as my "Captain Kirk" Chair. had a lot of fun reading Stephen King novels in that chair. Sadly, it came apart, never to join Starfleet again. The black cylinder by the stereo is a preener, a cloth covered device for cleaning LP's. LP's attract dirt by their very nature. Never use record sprays or anything that might leave a residue on your LP's. There's a YEHUDI MENUIN MUSIC GUIDE on the floor by her feet. I reviewed this for the local paper, the DENTON RECORD-CHRONICLE.

Well.... I am approaching "burnout" again. I must reorganize and just post a photo, and that's that. If my photo is appreciated and invited to a group, that is wonderful, and I will go where invited, but I've got to go through my groups again and eliminate those groups that require mandatory commenting, because that is not why I am here..... Please know that If I "Fave" a photo, it means that I have viewed, studied and appreciated your photo, and I hope that is "enough".... I will also leave comments on some, time permitting. I SO treasure my FlickrFriends, and don't want to leave, but mandatory commenting is not why I am here.... I'm just here to post and share.... Thank you my friends.... :-)
Love, Jane

- A decade ago I had a comb as every days companion, not needed anymore 👴
- Also a lighter and cigarettes went with me everyday, also abondonded that habit long time ago.
- But what I inherited from those smoking time: I still always carry around a bag of Fisherman's Friend, to have always a fresh breath. The sugar free version that is (these bags are striped !)
- Fisherman's Friend is a brand of strong menthol lozenges manufactured by the Lofthouse company in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England.
- Fisherman's Friend was originally developed by pharmacist James Lofthouse in 1865 to relieve various respiratory problems suffered by fishermen working in the extreme conditions of the Northern deep-sea fishing grounds. Though he developed it as an extremely strong liquid remedy containing menthol and eucalyptus oil, Lofthouse later made the liquid into small lozenges, which were easier to transport and administer. According to the manufacturer, the fishermen began to refer to the lozenges as "friends", hence the name.
- FD 241 CEVIC is the most famous trawler around the world, if only for one thing: She IS the logo of Fisherman's Friend losenge's and is carried as a drawing on EVERY packet. Sadly she was lost in the Bay of Biscay on February 14 1991.
