Former churchbuilding, nowadays used as a room for exhibitions and cultural activities..
Ruigoord (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrœyxoːrt]) is a village in the Houtrakpolder in the Dutch province of North Holland, situated within the municipality of Amsterdam. Until the 1880s, it was an island in the IJ bay, which turned into a polder. The village is nowadays partially closed in by the Port of Amsterdam, and lies about 8 km east of Haarlem.[1]
In the 1960s the village was evacuated by the municipality of Amsterdam, which intended to extend its harbour, but the plans fell through. In 1973 the village was squatted by a group of artists who planned to make a colony there. As such it exists to this day, but is legalized nowadays. Full moon parties are regularly organised in the formerly Roman Catholic village church and every year there is the Landjuweel (Land Jewel) festival in August.
Since the early 2000s, the village has staged an annual poetry festival over the Whitsun weekend, Vurige tongen (Fiery Tongues). One of the festival's three days is always devoted to international poets. From 2003 on, a yearly Ruigoord Trophy has been awarded to individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to maintaining the village as an important cultural stronghold. The first such trophy was presented to Simon Vinkenoog. Three notable non-Dutch trophy holders are the late American poet and photographer Ira Cohen, the Canada-born writer Jordan Zinovich, and the Amsterdam-based American poet and writer Eddie Woods.

It's my 'About Face' hybrid tea-rose with its contrasting yellow and orange petals. 'About Face' won the 2005 All American Rose Selections. It is psychedelic.
And it's a teller of fortunes.

Widely distributed on lowland rivers and still-waters, the Kingfisher is a species whose fortunes have waxed and waned. Numbers are impacted by severe winter weather, and this may be the main driver of change, but changing water quality and availability of favoured prey may also play a role. (BTO).

Deep in the forest, we could hear some metals ringing. At first we didn't know what it was but then we've heard some hoof-steps and wheel, we looked toward the path and saw this fortune teller going her way.

I set out on a daytrip to dodge the rain and shoot with three cameras I almost never use. First was the Graflex RB, Series B - a boxy 1947 2x3 120 shooter. Second was a Baby Graflex, also a 2x3. And finally, my normal Crown Graphic with a 6x7 120 roll back. I also shot the Crown with regular 4x5 sheets.
Since I wasn't used to shooting with these cameras in these ways, it was a very frustrating shooting day. Despite that, I had such a wonderful time. I mapped out the trip to explore roads that I had never been one, while hitting a few towns that I've visited many times before. It was a lovely combination of old and new.
I traveled through three (and sort of four) counties: Franklin (and a bit of Adams), Whitman, and Columbia. I've divided this little zine to reflect that. The photos are mostly in chronological order.
The stars here are the lenses and the skies. I can't believe my fortune with the skies. The light cooperated much of the day, appearing along with abandoned houses, old cemeteries and empty fields. Though the shooting was difficult, the views came easy, and the photos, I think, reflect this.
