The castle of Parga has an architecture with polygons (polygon). The defense of the fort was supported by eight towers out elsewhere in the landscape. Main entrance, recognizable by the big arch, located on the southwest side of the castle. The fort is free to visit and you have a wonderful view of Parga and the islands off the coast. Upstairs is quite a climb from the port, but you walk past shops and cafes.

Israel, 2018. The Nimrod Fortress was built in 1628 by the muslims, to detain the crusaders on their route to Damascus. Well, indeed, they've never made through it! Although many years later, other invaders succeeded in this task. There's a stunning view of the valley below, from the top of the ruins. It really worth the visit.

East Bank/Egypt 2019 (Luxor Temple ("the southern sanctuary" in ancient Thebes) was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. Luxor temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified version of the king in death. Instead Luxor temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the kings of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually.

There are chapels built by Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty, and Alexander. Other parts of the temple were built by Tutankhamun and Ramesses II. During the Roman era, the temple and its surroundings were a legionary fortress and the home of the Roman government in the area...)

Hwaseong Fortress, South Korea - 07 MAY 2020: Hwaseong Fortress is in Suwon, just south of Seoul. This UNESCO heritage site is home to a small palace, but the real attraction is the old fortress wall that surrounds the core of the city. The wall is maintained as a fun walking trail, and is lit up at night.

Kristiansten Fortress was built after Trondheim's great city fire in 1681. Then King Christian the 5th ordered that a new city and fortification plan be prepared, where Kristiansten Fortress should prevent an enemy from being able to shoot down the city. Kristiansten was an effective guardian of the city until it was closed down as an active military facility in 1816. Today it appears as Norway's best-preserved tower fortress from the 17th century, with the distinctive donjon visible from all over the city.

The first golden rays of dawn are just breaking the cool night air at the fortress of Enrilth. You look around and discover that many of the townspeople are already diligently busying themselves with daily chores. Animals are being herded, and the familiar tinkering of a horses wares can be herd. Above you soar the majestic battlements and towers, rather weathered by the ages and decorated by machicolations, crenulations, trailing vines, and watchful guards which seems to stand as still as the towers themselves. Autumn has just come, and the steady rains have kept the rushing waterfall alive, as it cascades down in the the glistening Lake Salisver below which serves as a final wall of protection of that which you call home.

This MOC has taken me about 10 weeks from an idea in my head to the final product! Thanks be to everyone for the inspiration.

To God be the glory!

Ok it's a bit of a castle rather than a whole one so I'm slowly weening myself of my castle fixation. I just loved the textures and detailing in the stones of this section of lindisfarne castle.

Definitely best viewed large.
