Attention Ladies & Gents (yes boyz you too)....
Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. It is considered a heterogeneous disease—differing by individual, age group, and even the kinds of cells within the tumors themselves. Obviously no woman wants to receive this diagnosis, but hearing the words “breast cancer” doesn’t always mean an end. It can be the beginning of learning how to fight, getting the facts, and finding hope.
Women in the United States get breast cancer more than any other type of cancer except for skin cancer. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women.
Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Approximately 1,700 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. The evaluation of men with breast masses is similar to that in women, including mammography.
If you'd like more infromation here are 2 great resources..I worked for the American Cancer Society and I provided services to women and men with breast cancer.♥
The creaking of rails and the resounding rumble of GE motors echo through Natural Tunnel as CSX trackage rights coal load C090 snakes its way through. They're are framed as they exit the south portal of the tunnel, making their way south for unloading at the massive Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN.
Natural Tunnel is a massive naturally formed limestone cave located in the Natural Tunnel State Park near Duffield, Virginia. The 850 foot long, 80 foot tall and up to 200 foot wide tunnel was carved over thousands of years as groundwater slowly dissolved the limestone. The railroad has utilized this natural oddity to haul traffic through the mountain since 1893 when the South Atlantic and Ohio railroad constructed the first tracks through the tunnel. This line would be a connecter from Bristol, TN, to Big Stone Gap, VA and the coalfields of southwestern Virginia. The line was later assumed by the Virginia and Southwestern Railroad 1899 and was dubbed the “Natural Tunnel Route”. The Southern Railway would acquire controlling interest in the line in 1906 and would run the "Lonesome Pine Special" until passenger service ended in 1939.
In 1967, The Commonwealth of Virginia purchased the property and the Natural Tunnel State Park was opened to the public 1971.
Natural Tunnel has been a tourist attraction for over a century and is one of the most iconic shooting locations for railroad photographers in the Appalachian Mountains. Today it provides passage for NS and CSX trains via Norfolk Southern’s Appalachia District.

Not only the best year I can remember for SWFritz, but the best for the rare Valesina form too... Popping up all over the place. Nice to see them out of the woods in the open meadows... :@)

My Monday flower greeting today not only comes quite late (sorry, I had something urgent to do) but also in a very unusual form. Nothing is blooming here at the moment.
But anyone who has ever seen the flowers of the houseleek knows that they look really impressive and beautiful.
Which brings us to my ulterior motive for this photo.
Very often we meet people whose real potential is not apparent at first glance (perhaps not at second either). Just like this flower in hibernation.
Then we are often quick to judge and put this person in a box that suits us.
I would like to invite you to wait (not just this week) before making such judgments for a while (if you cannot avoid them completely). Be curious about what is still hidden at the moment. I can say from my own experience as a coach that you sometimes make fascinating discoveries when you are there when the sleeping beauty in your counterpart opens her eyes.
And who knows, maybe you will discover and awaken the sleeping beauty within yourself. Because the thing with quick judgments and boxes works even better internally than externally.

NGC 281 forms part of an HII (ionized Hydrogen) region in the constellation of Cassiopeia.
Also known as The Pacman Nebula, due to its resemblance to the videogame character, (on his side in this image!) lies at a distance of around 9500 light years from Earth.
A feature of this nebulae are Bok Globules. These are isolated small, dark nebulae looking like "little" clumps and are visible in the image.
This image represents only 60mins worth of exposure using a Baader Ha filter. My session was cut drastically short, I wanted to image more, including OIII data, but the ingress of thick cloud put a stop to that idea - what's new! Have to say this was not my primary target but I had considerable guiding issues earlier which wasted a lot of time and was aware of the short window of clear sky. So it was a case of the Pacman Nebula so the night wouldn't be a total waste!
This same cloud prevented me from trying to photograph the spectacular Aurora display which was also taking place this night.
Quite pleased with what I did get as conditions were initially good - pity it didn't continue!
Imaged with my Esprit 120ED with focal reducer. I used my ZWO 1600MMC camera and Baader Ha filter.

"To take photographs means to recognize - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis."

The "Waldlerhaus" is a local form of agricultural building, typical of the Bavarian Forest and Upper Palatine Forest in Germany. The term Waldlerhaus goes back to the 19th century and describes the house of a person who lives in and from the forest.
Its distribution area is bounded by the edges of the Bavarian and Upper Palatine Forests. The boundary of the associated cultural-historical region has been complicated by recent history. Until the Second World War the area of the lower Bavarian Forest, the Mühlviertel in Austria and the southern Bohemian Forest in present-day Czech Republic, formed one large unit. This means there is also a difficulty in determining its boundary with the Bohemian Forest house (Böhmerwaldhaus),
which occurs in the Czech Republic and in the "Šumava", the Czech part of the Bohemian Forest.
It is a pity that most of these house get lost. This one is used as a barn.
