The Tribute in Light is an art installation of 88 searchlights placed next to the site of the World Trade Center to create two vertical columns of light in remembrance of the September 11 attacks. It is produced annually by The Municipal Art Society of New York. It initially ran as a temporary installation from March 11 to April 14, 2002, and was launched again in 2003 to mark the second anniversary of the attack. As of 2010, it has been repeated every year on September 11. It had been announced that 2008 would be its final year, but the tribute was continued in 2009. On December 17, 2009, it was confirmed that the tribute would continue through to the tenth anniversary of the attacks in 2011.

This was an image I composed on a walk with my wife Jo around Buxton Country Park on 29th May 2021. I seem to remember there was a proliferation of this very attractive flower just a short distance from Solomon's Temple. I wanted to isolate some of the flowers with the long end of my 300mm zoom, but I also wanted the background to play an important role in the overall image by creating an illusion that the forget-me-nots carry on into the distance
The Holocaust Memorial is a very impactful memorial in Berlin and reminder of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. The site is covered with 2,711 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. A highly emotional experience walking between the slabs. The moody clouds definitely added to the experience. History the world can never forget. This beautiful tree is a symbol of life and hope.

Forget-me-nots
these are flowers from a fairy tale!
They grow by the stream,
they look with blue eyes.
When you're on the boat
They laugh quietly
And they whisper modestly:
"Do not forget about me"
Niezapominajki
to są kwiatki z bajki!
Rosną nad potoczkiem,
patrzą rybim oczkiem.
Gdy się płynie łódką,
Śmieją się cichutko
I szepcą mi skromnie:
„Nie zapomnij o mnie”

These are garden escapees which I collected from a path near to home- intended initially as my Photo A Day.
“Lest we forget” – three very simple, yet also very powerful words. First used in an 1897 poem written by Rudyard Kipling called “Recessional”, to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, they caution us to be careful not to forget.
As we take a moment this Armistice Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our peace, prosperity and stability, and those who fight today to protect us still, let us also hope that conflicts around the world will come to a swift conclusion, not least of all in Ukraine and in Gaza
Armistice Day or Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. It falls on the 11th of November every year. Remembrance Day is marked at eleven o’clock (the time that the armistice was declared) with a minute’s silence to honour the fallen. Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919, the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries.
Although birds are my favorite subject I like to explore different things. I shot these flowers just a bit out of focus and played with the levels and kind a like the result.
