According to legend, the deep Lake Lagarfjlót is said to hold a beast called the Lagarfljót Wyrm, a cousin of the Loch Ness Monster with a lot more history. While the earliest significant records of Nessie go back to the 1870s, the Lagarfjlót Wyrm has been spoken about since 1345.

Few towns in Germany can match the charm of Cochem. Cochem is rated as one of the prettiest villages along the Mosel, and it is a favourite place for visitors. Legend, folklore and a rich web of history is woven into every street. Little seems to have changed for centuries. The town has many fine buildings, quaint cottages, black & tan guild houses, and winding streets. The town square, lined with half-timbered houses, is particularly fine. Cochem Castle (Schloss Reichsburg) dramatically rises above the town.

At first, thought the Krampus, "I'll hunt her, I'll snare,
The demoness with her pink flowing hair."
With hooves and with horns, his fury ablaze,
He chased her through shadows, through moonlit haze.
But she only laughed, a whisper, a tease,
Drawing him deeper through frost-laden trees.
The moon hung red, the forest held tight,
And soon he forgot his reason that night.
The hunt turned to dance, a game, a chance,
And his fierce pursuit became her romance.
Winter passed on, spring softly arose,
And with it, a secret began to disclose.
Nine months later, ‘neath storms in the skies,
A little one came with laughter and cries.
A baby with horns, with charm so sweet,
The demoness proud, and Krampus—defeat!
"I thought I was hunting, but now I can see,
A father, a daughter, that’s what’s come to be.
Together we’ll wander, hand in clawed hand,
A Krampus who found love in this snowy land."
I've taken this shot walking in Scopello.

Ho scattato questa foto passeggiando a Scopello.
Vedendo questo meraviglioso carretto con dei bambini a bordo non ho potuto fare a meno di scattare.
