While preparing for the "Shisha" gathering, I found myself staring at the flames. I grabbed the camera and captured the moment :)
OK, this one grew on me, so it's a keeper. I've removed the other photo from the pool.
Oil slick at the park--just happens to be perfectly timed with the rainbow assignment at Take a class with Dave.
"1. The Rainbow - Take a shot full of vivid colors. At a minimum, we must be able to clearly identify at least three of the following colors in the photo: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (I refuse to acknowledge indigo and violet as separate colors ;-)."
But they are, Dave.
I had something different in mind. Quite hard to do something different with a candle.

I headed to Heather Farm Reserve, aka "The Swamp," at 8:30 this morning. It was already 80° so this would be a short trip. A lot shorter than I thought: I had a female Flame Skimmer laying eggs in my viewfinder, in focus, tack-sharp, and then "No Card." Dagnabbit! I didn't take the card out of the computer last night after downloaded yesterday's catch.
I went back home as fast as I could, and then returned, and here's what I found: the same dragons and damsels from last year, but two new species as well. And lots of ... company.
I was just entering "the grotto" where I find the most Cardinal Meadowhawks and Blue Dashers when I saw a woman 20 feet in. So, I called "Behind you. I'm coming in if you don't mind." And as she flew past me, she said through her mask, "Get away! I can't be close to you. I could catch something!" And I replied, "Was it something I said or just your stupidity?"
Must have been warning her of my presence. Unphased as I usually am, I proceeded to take pictures of two female Aztec Dancers, and two Cardinal Meadowhawks.
I then headed to "The Inlet," a slight gouge in the bank of the pond. When I got there, there was a little girl with her scooter. She was 2.5 to 3 years old. I looked around, then asked her, "Where's your mommy?" No reply and, society being what it is today, I tried keeping on eye on her and looked around the bend for her mother. 50 yards down the path, there was mommy, and I said to her, "Do you know how dangerous it is to leave a toddler unsupervised by the pond????" And she said, "What business is it of your's. The pond's not deep!" And I said, "It's deep enough for a toddler to down in." And she slithered off like the Northern Garter Snake I saw just afterward (photo to follow).
I know that the virus has altered our behavior, but idiots are born, not made. The trouble is, they vote!
Not even a bleepin' thank you. I should have breathed on her. Snarky is as snarky does.
The flame.
