The FJ Holden Special was released in 1953. It was an updated version of Australia's first mass-produced car - the Holden 48-215 - that rolled off the assembly line at Fishermans Bend, Victoria on 29 November 1948.
This FJ Holden is displayed at The National Museum of Australia, Canberra and was made in 1955. It has a 2.15 litre, six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual gearbox. I love the highly polished chrome and eyelids.
Molly Goodall bought this car new and for the next 25 years she negotiated the gravel roads, sharp corners and tricky creek crossings between 'Rueon', the family's farm at The Angle, and Queanbeyan, New South Wales.
Regarded as an excellent driver, Molly lovingly cared for her car, garaging it at night and covering it with a rabbit skin rug and horse blanket.
She stopped driving in 1980 when it became too difficult to see out the rear window.

This rusty relic is an iconic Aussie car, one of the first Holdens built by General Motors.
Photograph taken near Gawler Ranges, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
Painted to match MRU camo on Dark Tan.
What do you think? Are the colors ok? I might change the green color. I used vallejo model color paints.
