been playing with a new pic's editor, hope you like it :))

I finally managed to sneak down the Kukui Trail and found some nice clouds here at Waimea Canyon. Then the sun broke through clouds and cast some cool and interesting light over the landscape. After reviewing this photo, I wished I had taken out the 70-200 to pick the landscape apart piece by piece, but alas, Live and learn. :)

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great day :)

If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

This year, peak Autumn color arrived on the Leelanau about two weeks later than usual. Fortunately, the weather conditions have been such that our glorious color has held on longer than usual, too.

Finally we have the Blue Anemone in our woods.

The most gorgeous little flowers that cover the winter gray ground.

Wish you a wonderful weekend!!

And finally we got the cold weather. Snow and frost during the night, with light mist in the morning.

I went for a walk - was a nice day and the Enchanted Forest is starting to come alive. This Trout Lily is starting to cover the forests grounds, along with white Trilliums.

Now that the three chicks are all fed and resting, the female Osprey can make a run for new nesting material to freshen the place up.

One thing has eluded me in the 4 years of photographing Short Eared Owls - I have never managed to get a decent detailed post shot. Despite my renound field craft, they would always fly off just as I started to raise my lens - or be sat miles away in the middle of no-mans land.

I took half a days holiday yesterday to use up my annual leave and ventured forth once again. Figuring that Storm Brendan may have prevented the owls hunting effectively for a couple of days.

This owl was quite active at the end of the fen and spent a lot of time perching - always a long way off of course.

When 1 of our group had to leave (and walk past the owl) we all decided to slowly walk towards him/her, pausing every few feet to see how close we could get - as the owl was going to be disturbed anyway.

I left my tripod behind and decided to hand hold - OMG - have forgotten how hard that is with a 600mm, extender and gripped body - won't do that again in a hurry.

Anyway, none of us could quite believe it as the owl stayed put as we crept closer and closer. Thankfully this coincided with the last 20 minutes or so of a perfect sunset.

Occassionally you get one of those special moments!

They are back! Finally we found our first dragonflies of the year on our walk through the Himmelmoor. This Four-spotted chaser chased over the lake surface - what a joy to watch these perfect hunters and flying artists again.

Blue Ringtail Damselfly (Austrolestes annulosus)

The first Blue I have captured this season. And again the shot was taken at 'arms length' above my head. It had paused very briefly a lot lower down but not long enough to get a shot.

I hope you have all had a wonderful and happy Christmas.

I will catch up with your images as time permits.

This non-breeding male Scarlet Tanager gave me a good chase to get this shot. It kept to the back of the trees bouncing from branch to branch. They are in the Cardinal family now. Wilson Farm Park Wilson Farm Park Chesterbrook, PA.

Sunny Spain not so sunny last weekend, but it's lovely to see so much snow!

Heliotrope Moth (Utetheisa pulchelloides)

It has been just on five years since I have photographed one of these. With no time to head out to see the birds today I went for a quick wander around the garden. I was getting a shot of a native bee when I looked down and spotted this one resting on the Jade Plant. They are a day feeding moth

The first Tau I have seen this year, I normally start seeing them in late October. It didn't choose the best spot for images.

Yes, yes, yes.....

: ) snow, what a fun!

( Do you ever noticed that our kids are now so long in school that they haven't a chance to sledge? Bad times for a wonderful childhood.)

I've shot these turkey vultures soaring in the deep blue sky before, and somehow can't get sharp focus - may be limitations of the Nikon system. In any case, I finally got a decent focus! At Sitka Sedge at the Oregon coast.
