A gathering of 747's from multiple companies from around the globe, seen at Cotswold Airport (Kemble) (EGBP). It appears that they are undergoing component recovery, with the engines being removed. Many of the examples shown have cowlings removed and some have the engines removed too, leaving just a hole.

Making a very rare and welcome appearance in Dublin on a charter service was Corsair 747-422 'F-GTUI' which operated Orly-Dublin and a Dublin-Orly services a week apart.

The 747 first flew for United airlines as N186UA from 1992 to 2005 when it joined the French carrier as F-GTUI. The carrier has stated that it intends to phase out its remaining 747's within the next 18 months.

January 11, 2009 - "Corsair 860 Heavy" from Paris-Orly International Airport passes over Maho Beach on short final for runway zero-niner at Princess Juliana International Airport in Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles.

For those that may be unfamiliar: The 747-400 is the largest aircraft that lands at SXM on a regular basis. It looks rather small in this photo but is actually a huge aircraft.

Note: "Sint Maarten" is the proper spelling for the Dutch side of the island. The French side is known as "Saint Martin".

Once under different ownership, Corsair were effectively a stand-alone airline, but then got taken over by German goliath TUI. That dictated a need to suffix their name withy 'fly', but fortunately they kept their core name Corsair, unlike its sister companies. In time, they were sold to another parent and the Corsair name came back with a totally different livery.

Corsair International is a French airline based at Paris-Orly Airport which started operations in 1981. It serves the leisure market and is a subsidiary of German TUI Group, hence the registration.

The airline has four Airbus A330's and three Boeing 747-400's one of which we see here.

This aircraft was built for United Airlines, in 1992 and in 2005 was acquired by Corsair.
