Baringo lake is one of the big lakes of the kenyan Rift Valley. As the rainy season is coming (no need of a wall...) people are burning the small cultivated island. A way they told me to clean the soils and help water to permeate easier.

The moors are mountain ecosystems that develop over the Andean forests at altitudes that can exceed 3,000 meters above sea level. Because of its location in the equatorial zone, they are cold climate all year round, and its volcanic soils are usually very fertile.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas or the Urubamba Valley, is a valley in the Andes of Peru, north of the Inca capital of Cusco. It is located in the present-day Peruvian region of Cusco. Stretching from Pisac to Ollantaytambo, this fertile valley is irrigated by the Urubamba River. The Chanapata civilization first utilized this area starting at around 800 BCE because of the rich soil used for agriculture. The Qotacalla civilization lived in the Sacred Valley from 500 to 900 CE The Killke civilization then lived in the Sacred Valley from 900 CE until the Incan Empire took over the region in 1420. Enchanted by the pleasant microclimate and the fertile land, Huayna Capac settled here, built palaces and agricultural terraces with a system of aqueducts for irrigation. The place was considered a true example of hydraulic technology and agricultural production. Moreover, the aqueducts are still functional and the terraces are in good condition!
Landscape of Tibet
Tibet is the highest country on earth with an average elevation of over 4000m. The lowest regions of Tibet are still over 2000m above sea level with Jomo Langma (Everest,Sagarmatha) ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ being the highest point at 8848m. Tibet is covered in grasslands, mountains and valleys.
Many of Asia’s largest rivers have their headwaters in Tibet such as the Ma chu རྨ་ཆུ་ ( Yellow River), Dri chu འབྲི་ཆུ་ (Yangtze), Nag chu ནག་ཆུ་ - རྒྱ་མོ་རྔུལ་ཆུ (Salween), Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ (Brahmaputra) and Dza chu རྫ་ཆུ་ (Mekong). Western Tibet (Ngari) is a high, arid region with few people, while southeast Tibet (Kham) is forested and suitable for farming. Northern Tibet (Amdo) is covered in vast grasslands filled with yaks and sheep and central Tibet (U-Tsang) is the most densely populated area of Tibet lying along the fertile Yarlung Valley.
Fairfield lies between Brookland and Brenzett on a minor road in a deserted part of the Walland Marsh .
The area was won from the sea (inned) sometime between 1200 and 1270. The monks from Canterbury built dykes to the western edge of the Rhee Wall (the sea defenses built by the Romans) and enclosed the land so reclaiming the rich and fertile soil from the sea.
1287 saw the great storm in which Broomhill was swept away and New Romney barely survived. The Rother changed its course to the sea, and exited the marshes at Rye, whereas before the storm the river found its way to the sea near to modern day Greatstone and Littlestone .
Fayrefelde existed before 1595 as a map of the time shows the village approximately where the church now sits. It is likely that as the land became more reclaimed so the village sprung up.
Nowadays all that can be seen is the church lying down from the road embankment which is probably the original inning wall. The church was built as a temporary structure of timber lath and plaster in the 1200's to support the local farming community. The exterior has been strengthened with brick, and in 1913 the whole building was reconstructed and encased to preserve it.
St Thomas a Beckett at Fairfield is one of those churches supported by the Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust .
Fertile farmland, a feed mill and two engines from out of town....a scene that could easily be mistaken for somewhere in the Midwest. Instead, we're in rural north Georgia on the Hartwell, and these two museum pieces are just part of the Hartwell's eclectic roster.
Lomaria discolor is a species of fern endemic to New Zealand. The photo shows a young fertile frond of the Crown fern. At this early stage it is a pale green, but as it matures it turns a dark brown color as the sori (spore-bearing capsules) ripen and become visible as a continuous band on the underside of the narrow leaflets. I was struck by the elegant unfurling shape, another example of nature’s artistry.

Fertile - Iowa
This beautiful little creek to my knowledge has no name. I've asked the folks that live in the area . . . nothing! It's one of many that flow through north Iowa.
They do support wildlife, and provide drainage for farmers that tile their farmland. They are fun to hike, you never know what will bolt out from behind a tree or tall grass.

The Importance of Farmland in Cornwall
More than 70% of Cornwall’s land is dedicated to agriculture, making it a vital part of the region’s economy and ecosystem. The fertile soil and favorable climate allow for the cultivation of a wide variety of crops, including fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Additionally, Cornwall is known for its dairy farming, producing high-quality milk and cheese.
The abundance of farmland in Cornwall not only provides us with nutritious food but also contributes to the preservation of the region’s natural resources. Sustainable farming practices, such as organic farming and agroforestry, can help enhance soil quality, reduce pollution, and support wildlife habitats. By working collaboratively with farmers, we can ensure that nature thrives alongside agricultural activities.
Exploring Cornwall’s Agricultural Landscape
Cornwall is home to expansive farmlands, with picturesque countryside vistas that attract visitors from around the world. The largest county in the South West, Devon, has around 72.4 percent of its land dedicated to commercial farm holdings, with a majority of it consisting of grasslands. This creates a lush and vibrant landscape that adds to Cornwall’s allure as a tourism hotspot.

The Ulun Danu Temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Beratan in the mountains near Bedugul. Water temples serve the entire region in the outflow area; downstream there are many smaller water temples that are specific to each irrigation association.
Built in 1663, this temple is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu, due to the importance of Lake Beratan as a main source of irrigation in central Bali.
Lake Beratan is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to the fertility of this area.

A fabulous old mill -found in Fertile, Iowa along the Winnebago River.
Unfortunately to save this grand old place - they converted to apartments hence the decks on the side.
Still though, a quaint setting with the morning light!
BN Train 123 is four miles north of Fertile, Minn. on Feb. 19, 1979. The nose of the F makes for a natural snowplow. Interestingly, BN trains 123 and 124 took different routes between Northtown and Grand Forks, N.D. Train 124 left Grand Forks via the ex-GN south to Fargo then east on the NP main line though Staples (NP/GN joint east of St. Cloud) to Northtown. Train 123 followed that same route west to Manitoba Junction, then swung north through Fertile and Crookston, then west to Grand Forks. The portion this train is on is now abandoned.
