As Desert sun shines down on Sparta ( the county seat of Hazzard Range County ) ,we see Chris Haca reading the Election result from Yesterday's Primary , out loud to Savannah Knock .As he waits for his Girlfriend .
He is reading the Hazzard Range Herald that came out this afternoon late so unofficial results could be printed .
In local elections . On Democrat side
candidate for District 5 county Commissioner Sharon Dunn retired school teacher beat out incumbent current commissioner /vice chair ,local businessmen and former county Sheriff ( 1982 -2002 ) Tom Bortz ,who has been commissioner /vice chair since 2004 .Dunn will challenging Republican Frank Padilla owner of Padilla Towing in the fall . District 1 County commissioner is vacate after incumbent Nelly lopez is retiring and Republican Jeb Cox is uncontested in Primary and in the General election this fall .
District 2 Commissioner Jake Harpe is also uncontested . Same as races for county clerk and county Treasurer .
Other races some Hazzard Range County residents are watching is the 2016 election a sheriff position is not usually on the ballot as last sheriff was elected in 2014 and should not be up for reelection till 2018 ,. That former sheriff was Adam Walter who passed way shortly after resigning from office early this year .So this it two year term this time .interim sheriff Susan Grass is not running ,but agreed to be interim till Nov 8th election .
There is two Democrat candidates Former Clay county undersheriff Bruce Tirca ( Sept 2015 to Jan 2016 ) he also worked for NM state police and Philipsburg ( Clay county seat )Police Dept . The other Democrat candidate Joseph " spike " Zbacaski ,he was the county Manger for some time and former Deputy ( 1990s ) . On Republican side we have Shawn Gray a retried FBI agent and Us Navy Veteran .Andy Johnson Retired U.S. Forest Service Ranger and Randy Lee Current County DWI Coordinator and former Chief of police of Philipsburg.
Yesterday voters in Clay county picked Democrat candidate Joseph " spike " Zbacaski and Republican Shawn Gray ,both will face off in the fall
After I took this photo and no security guards appeared to black bag me, my travelling companions felt safe enough to take their own. Personally, I think the FBI probably has our retinal scans on file now.

Barnes' body was recovered from a creek bed Monday, after he allegedly shot and killed a park ranger Sunday during a traffic stop in the park. Barnes did not have any external wounds and appears to have died due to the elements, Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.
