A poster art for my 1/6 fashion doll story. Old postcards found at a local flea market were used for the backdrop. Many thanks to my friends for their help with the translation into French and advice concerning the collage.

This is by no means an attempt to reproduce the real Paris – just my imagination. Who knows why I had the urge to place the story in this city. It might have been because of Gaston Mauger's textbook. Or the photos of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Or the multitude of wistful key holders and clocks with the Eiffel tower (=

-----

This is alternate history. In 2000s it was decided to turn the historical districts of Paris into a twentieth century city. And they have remained as such, though for the next century and a half the civilization has made a huge technological and urban progress.

The look of Old Paris is the result of how its inhabitants think it used to look in the past. Everyone has brought their own ideas. The city that was born this way had never existed – not a replica of the real Paris, but a dream of a city beyond time limits, a living nostalgia, 'now' and 'never' altogether.

There are plenty of tourists but their stay is regulated by special travel permits. Only the residents can be in the city at any time of day and night.

To become a resident one has to win an annual lottery. These lotteries are held all over the world but France has the largest quota of winners. The participants confirm their income level and clean records and then they pay a fee. There are many who play all their life and do not win; others are lucky from the very start.

The protagonist of this story has been lucky. Or, to be more accurate, his wish has come true. They say one cannot win this lottery by mere chance. The city calls. It attracts lost and lonely souls that have no place in ever changing world without.

A winner doesn't have to buy a home in the city. But he or she becomes a Resident of Old Paris wherever they live. They can arrive at any moment, day and night, without planning or warning – and they can have a walk and leave in a couple of hours. Or not leave at all.

Missoni is the main producer of knitted sweaters. You can see a great variety of knitted items in their Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 line.

The blue print fabric, similar print, was used on a previous fashion. That dress was a tank style with a silver belt. The print also went around the whole dress, this time the print I only used in the front. #fashionfunfacts

Young men of the twenty-first century on the Royal Mile. Two of the younger generation show off their kilts and in the background the fair haired lad is also wearing a kilt. He has not spotted the camera though his lass obviously has!
