Located across the Street from the abandoned Forest Zoo in Gallitzin, PA is Fantasy Forest. The park closed around 1994 and this photo shows how neglected the structures are now.

After seeing tigers and other animals in small cages at the nearby Forest Zoo, children could play in castles, houses, and giant shoes at Fantasy Forest. I was seven when this park closed so I don't recollect much. I do know, however, that many structures have been taken down in the past 13 years. Only the "Little Old Woman's Shoe" and a few small structures remain.

This was a 3 minute shot, at f/4 and ISO 100. I used a flashlight with green and blue gels as well as my Vivitar 2800 strobe with an orange gel. The full moon also helped.

The Yum Yum Cafe originally opened as the Yum Yum Palace in Great Adventure's Fantasy Forest during its debut season in 1974. Over the years the sun, weather, wear and tear and sap from surrounding trees necessitated re-painting, and with each iteration some of the original whimsical details were lost. In 1995, as part of the park's thematic makeover, the Palace was transformed into the Great Character Cafe with a 1950s style makeover emphasizing the Looney Toons characters. In 2014, the Looney Tunes character theme was abandoned, and the sit down eatery was renamed the Yum Yum Cafe, embracing the nostalgia of some of the park's original design.

Six Flags Great Adventure, located in Jackson, New Jersey, first opened as Great Adventure on July 1, 1974 under the direction of Warner LeRoy. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, more commonly known as Six Flags or as Six Flags Theme Parks, founded in 161 by Angus G. Wynne, acquired the park in 1977. The 160-acre amusement park is part of the 510 acre Great Adventure and Safari Park complex, which is the second largest theme park in the world behind Disney's Animal Kingdom.
