2.01 Distinguish and compare economic and social roles of children and adults in the local community to selected communities around the world.
2.02 Analyze similarities and differences among families in different times and in different places.
The students could describe the picture and elaborate upon the roles of each of the family members in this picture. The students could then compare the similarities and differences between the family and the dwelling in the image and their own families and homes.

A family of Canada Geese enjoy an evening meal on the banks of the Detroit River as the sun sets on the Detroit side of the river. These goslings are cute while young but eventually will become adults and add to an ever increasing number of Canada Geese. These birds have been a protected species because of over-hunting a century ago but as their population grows they have actually become a nuisance. Many parks are littered with their droppings and they can become very aggressive towards humans.

We’re currently in the lounge at OR Tambo International Airport, South Africa - waiting for the second leg of our flight to Maun, Botswana.
So many great memories from our previous trips here, so I’m really looking forward to what Botswana will bring us this time. Here’s one of those great memories from a previous Botswana tour.
We had tracked down this lioness with three cubs and spent many hours with them over a period of several days. The best moments were when mom decided to move to a different spot and bring the cubs with her. Those cute little bundles of fur bouncing around, jumping on each other and practice their stalking skills.
In wildlife photography it’s almost always about luck: we have little to no influence over the behavior of the subjects that we photograph. Most successful wildlife images are therefore primarily the result of luck. This one is no different. I had no influence on where this family was going, what they were going to do, how they would organize themselves in the frame, nor on the light, etc.
The only thing you can do as a wildlife photographer is to focus on the things you know or have influence on. Knowing your subject is critical when you want to make the right decisions. In this case I anticipated that the lions might be walking to a waterhole - it was that time of day and there was one close by. Instead of following the family and reacting to their actions, I decided to drive straight to the waterhole to give us some time to put ourselves in the right spot. There was no direct light anymore, so that was not a factor.
Looking at the small waterhole, there was one side that I liked, the other side was ugly. So I asked my guide to park the vehicle on the ugly side of the waterhole. That also meant that the lions would not go and drink on the ugly side, because we were already occupying that spot.
When the lions arrived, everything worked out exactly how I wanted it. We were very lucky to get what we got, but the image is the result of proactively managing our luck.

Dug this out of the files as fall is in the air and wishing I was back in the Grand Tetons. I tracked this moose family for most of a day, only to succumb to so many gnat bites that i needed a steroid shot… suffering for our Art! …and worth it!

Yes, we are really family.
My second cousin and me playing football. I was seven, Bram (a.k.a. B.C-tje) was and still is slightly older.
It has been 30 years, but I remember this event pretty well. Bram was attacking the ball in a karate-like manner all the time. And each time I was about to hit it, I just bursted out in an incontrolable laughing fit. Those were the good times.
In a world where even your "family" tries to break you down, I never doubt her. She has my back and I hers. That's true family ❤️
We had a rough morning when Mae had a complication during routine surgery. We couldn't get through to Hillary or her finace but had received a message that Mae might not make it. We knew how devastated Hillary would be so we spent a difficult morning trying to get information. Now I'm going to take a nap but I'll be back when I can.
Me and my sis, Katy at step sister's wedding last year. She's divorced now and I'm no longer engaged to the guy who proposed to me the day after the wedding. :)oh yeah- we were bridesmaids...
