Nikon 55mm f2.8 lens aperture closed down to f32. Shot handheld with a ringlight LED. Got some funky chromatic effects from the ringlight on the back lens- the colours are what it looked like. I was happy with the texture on the leaves. Backlit the aperture with my phone screen on white.

A Barred Owl swoops in on its prey after dark in British Columbia, Canada.
This beautiful bird was hunting insects (even worms!), something I have never seen a Barred Owl do before. Sometimes it would even snatch a flying insect right out of the air!
I decided to go with a wide angle lens for this shot and I am quite happy with the result! It was my first time working with wide angle owl photography so I think I did a good job.
Because it was dark I had to use manual focus, so I set the aperture at f32 so that I wouldn't have to worry as much about not getting the owl in focus (it is hard to prefocus after dark!).

Note: my images are processed to appear correct on a calibrated, professional grade colour-accurate monitor set to Adobe RGB output / 6500 K temperature / gamma 2.2. Many consumer grade screens (particularly mobile phone screens) at default settings will display these images with too much saturation and contrast, so please bear this in mind when viewing on such devices.

Catching some of the light rays on the Damnation Creek Trail. Del Norte State Park. I didn't shoot much film because of the high contrast in sunlight. I did my best to reduce contrast but keep the light rays dominant and maintain texture in the trees.
