Meet F13. This mature American Bald Eagle photo was taken by me on the Cannonsville Reservoir in Deposit NY on 09/28/14. This bird happened to get close enough to get both the NYS (the blue band) and Federal Band (the silver band) numbers which led to the following information from the NYS DEC: The bird was born in captivity at a zoo in Salisbury MD. Wildlife

Biologist Peter Nye banded it on June 2, 1997 when at 4.5 weeks old it was placed in a Pepacton Reservoir nest that had another eaglet of a similar age and to a wild pair of mated Eagles! Pete called it a male. So it's a foster baby! I guess it decided to

Ride with my Sony Xperia mini

Once or twice over the years, I've heard people comment that they think F13 has a slightly chubbier face than F09, or less 'sharp' features, although the heads are supposed to be the same besides the ears. Seemed unlikely, but that COULD be true -- hey, something weird could have happened to the shape of the head when a new mold was first made for the fairy version, who knows?! -- so since I currently have both heads (the new F09 will be a reshell of Chini! The F13 was her old head. Fantasy ears weren't working out for her), I took the opportunity to compare them.

....they're exactly the same, as far as I can tell. :P

I stared at them from every angle, so if there's a difference then I'm not eagle-eyed enough to spot it. Maybe not having ears at the side of the head may create a bit of an optical illusion and make F13 look a little more round faced sometimes.

Flickr auto-tagged this as "egg". Hey, that's not nice!
