TMK's version of Gangnam Style on New Years Eve. Shot using TMK as the main prop in the center, a little steel wool, whisk, 9v battery, eye protection, extra gloves, D800E, 14-24mm f/2.8, remote trigger and 30 seconds of spare time before we ring in the New Year..........
Everyone else on the block had little bottle rockets. :-)
Happy New Year!!!

Vision is precious . Wear sun protection as you age. Age related macular degeneration is not curable, but you can slow its progress. My doctor says mine has not progressed since diagnosed 5 years ago--- and I follow his intruction to wear a brimmed hat and sun shades when outdoors, and take AREDS2 PRESERVISION vitamins (and the proper multivitamin). It works for me.
All the things I love to do require the abiliity to SEE. Protect your vision!
For the benefit of those who need a briefing on the term "macular degeneration", it is a little black/gray spot which comes in the center of your vision. It is a "dead" receptor in the back of your eyeball. That one dead receptor is joined by others, and the black spot enlarges.....and keeps doing so, until there is no vision from that eye. If that piques your interest, look it up. "Age related" comes with aged eye balls.
NOTE: UVEX is one brand of eye protection among the many brands which serve the purpose. I like amber shades which heighten green colored objects, and reduce glare. There are some amber lenses which are identified as "driving glasses" as the traffic lights display the proper color while wearing them. I have several pairs of glasses, all sorts of lens colors....I am always forgetting where I placed a pair, so many options make sense to me.
Pictured is a soldier from 1 Armoured Infantry Brigade with an SA80 A2 Carbine during a live firing exercise...British Army’s Combined Arms Manoeuvre Demonstration held at Knighton Down, Salisbury Plain Training Area in October 2016. The aim was to demonstrate the capabilities of an Armoured Infantry Battlegroup as part of the Vanguard Armoured Infantry Brigade within a Reaction Force Division context...As well as a series of static stands there were two demonstrations. The first was a blank firing manoeuvre showing minefield crossing and a hasty attack. The second, a live firepower demonstration, using an enemy counter attack on a defensive position..

Pictured is a 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade soldier taking part in a Reconnaissance and Armoured Tactics Division final exercise at Greenland’s camp Salisbury Plain...He is armed with an SA-80 and is wearing the latest Virtus Body Armour and Helmet...The new personal armour, uses the latest materials and offers the same protection as the Osprey system but it is significantly lighter, moves with the body more easily and produces a slimmer profile.
The Virtus system has been tested by soldiers from The Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, The Yorkshire Regiment, The Rifles, The Parachute Regiment, The Mercian Regiment as well as the Royal Marines, with troops providing feedback on all design elements. The experiences of troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have also helped to design the new armour...Virtus will be developed and updated over the next few years with lighter components to increase the mobility and agility of the wearer to an even greater degree. Also in the pipeline is the incorporation of a central power supply and data system that will reduce the battery burden and allow the introduction of new digital situational awareness tools...

The troops practised joint operations and interoperability...Exercise Noble Jump 17 is a logistical challenge that tests the ability of all the participants to deliver a fighting force to wherever it is needed. ..All movements were controlled by NATO's Multi-National Division South East HQ, based in Bucharest. The VJTF is kept on short notice to move and is able to deploy a powerful well-trained force within days. This year, it is being led by the UK's 20 Armoured Brigade. ..Overseeing the VJTF’s training at Cincu was a combination of Joint Force Command Naples, Multi-National division South East and the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.

Soldiers from 35 Engineer Regiment splashing through a river, conducting medevac drills alongside a US Army Medical Blackhawk team. They are part of the Enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Estonia.
UK Armed Forces are taking a leading role in NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP), with the British Army leading a multinational Battlegroup in Estonia from early 2017.
The eFP in the Baltic States will see the deployment of robust, multinational, combat-ready forces to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, on a persistent, rotational basis. This movement forms part of a wider package of initiatives designed to enhance Euro-Atlantic security, reassure our Allies and deter our adversaries.
This deployment is just one aspect of a wide range of UK support to NATO. From January 2017, the UK assumed responsibility for NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) contributing about 3,000 personnel, leading a structured group of 14 partner nations.

Pictured is the new SA80 A3 Assault Rifle in the hands of a Grenadier Guardsman.
The current issue SA80 A2 assault weapon is being upgraded into the A3 spec under the Mid Life Improvement (MLI) project, which will ensure the rifle has the enhancements needed to remain in service until 2025 and beyond.
This multi-million-pound upgrade will give British troops a lighter, more hardwearing, better-camouflaged combat rifle so our personnel can perform on the frontline of some of the most dangerous locations across the world.
The changes to the rifle include a more durable hardwearing coating in a “Flat Dark Earth” colour offering better camouflage in a range of environments.
A weight saving of 100g over the A2, and a more streamlined fore grip making the weapon easier to handle.
The A3 rifle has a bracket to secure new innovative low light sights which can clip on or in front of the day sight without the need to remove it.
These sights are smaller, lighter and require fewer batteries whilst operating just as effectively in low light/night conditions.

I could not face this so point and shoot worked for me....it also makes me think of the crayon drawings made by children, with the big sun in a corner and rays spreading out in all directions. It was too powerful, even with shades on my eyes, to hold my eyes open as I framed and took this shot.
Protect your eyes...they allow you to view our beautiful planet.
