Progress since the last shot. As you can see, I have cut an aperture for the front entrance and built up a rear end to the lower deck using plastic card. This comprises a strip of plastic card folded to produce the 2 rear corners then glued to a rectangular piece at the lower edges to create an open box, then roughly cut to the shape of the remaining metalwork and bolted to what is left of the rear platform through the existing rivet hole. Everything looks like a dog's hind leg because I have yet to do the final cutting and filing to produce accurate joints, but I thought I would see if it could be assembled just to see what it looks like. I need to cut window apertures in the plastic card as well, then once the lower deck is all Araldited together I have to remove the remaining window pillars. I had not taken into account the fact that I would need to remove all the lower deck pillars, thus removing all support from the narrow panel immediately above them, hence the need for some adhesive work before removal. The upper deck has already had its window pillars removed and will require joining together in the middle before I start work on replacing the pillars to the correct spacing.
Even in this crude state I can see a vestigial "silver" Regent coming to life. So far I'm quite pleased with the job, but already I can see other, possibly better, ways of getting the result.
More pics to follow as work progresses.

This picture is yet another example of the importance of travelling next to a window seat.
It was actually taken from a local bus, deep in the heart of Bolivia, coming back from the Amazonian Bassin, being covered with insects bites.
Also, what's particularly stunning about that picture has something to do with its timing. It was caught in march.
And what's so special about this time of the year in many countrysides of South America is that so many peasants are burning their land that you can take a direct look at the sun for 2pm in the afternoon, the air being supercharged with particules, acting like a giant filter.
Wufu is a reference to the five blessings (health, wealth, love of virtue, longevity, and natural death). The word for good luck and the word for bat are homophonics, "fu". Therefore, the bat has become associated with many positive aspects of Chinese culture. Five bats are often portrayed, representing the five blessings, in a circle around the character for longevity. Here they are on an early bronze teapot, which is barely over three inches in height.

Not a bad way to end the year that was 2024, in the company of one of Australia's most iconic cockatoos & the King of The Cape, the unmistakable Palm Cockatoo.
There's no place quite like the tropical Far North, particularly the pointy end, as many of the species found in this area aren't found anywhere else in Australia. And the wet season is particularly attractive from a bird perspective as we see several migrants make their way into the country to breed over our Summer months.
During the wet season, a species of Beach Almond (Terminalia catappa) fruits along the coast & the Palm Cockatoos love to feed on these fruits. With some patience, this can allow for a reasonably close approach of the usually shy species. It's quite an experience to be so close to such an iconic species!
Palm Cockatoos have the second-largest bill of any parrot species in the world, & largest by far in Australia. Palmies also have long, thin black crest feathers & a distinctive large red cheek patch that flushes with colour when the bird is alarmed or excited. The male has a larger bill & red skin patch than his female counterpart.
This Palmie made very short work of several beach almonds with that enormous bill - if you look closely you'll notice it is about to pry out the seed from the fleshy exterior using his maxilla (upper beak) & tongue.
An unforgettable way to say goodbye to 2024.

SPUR 91, a McDonnell Douglas KC-10A Extender, was supposed to land at Travis AFB in Fairfield California; due to fog and low ceilings, and after holding for several hours in the area, the crew decided to divert to San Francisco International Airport. Here, the mighty KC-10 is seen resting at Plot 41.

The horned puffin (Fratercula corniculata) is an auk, similar in appearance to the Atlantic puffin; this bird's bill is yellow at the base and red at the tip. It is a pelagic seabird that feeds primarily by diving for fish. It nests in colonies, often with other auks.
The yellow bill plate grows before the breeding season and is shed later. They have a small fleshy black "horn" above their eyes. They have a white face with a dark line extending from the back of the eye and red feet.
This species breeds on rocky islands off the coasts of Siberia, Alaska and British Columbia, in burrows, in rocky cavities or among rocks. It winters far out to sea. Feeding areas are usually located fairly far offshore from the nest. There is usually one chick and both parents feed the young.
Horned puffins will return from hunting with several small fish in their beaks. They also eat squid and crustaceans.
The population of these birds has declined due to the introduction of rats onto some islands used for nesting.
These Puffins were seen near Seward in Alaska.
St Michael & All Angels church is a Grade ! (at risk) parish church situated on the National Trust's Croft Castle Estate adjacent to the castle. It is of mid-14 century Origin, extended in the early C16 (and rededicated in 1515), partly rebuilt in C17 and further alteration in C19.
As Peter has said, we had the area to ourselves this day. The two Kingfishers went about their business around us. The main business was eating.

Viola hirta (Violaceae) 039 21
Viola hirta is a species of the plant genus Viola. It is also called the hairy violet.
It is confined to the cold temperate zone, in Europe, north and west Asia, extending as far as northwest India.
The hairy violet is found on dry banks, and in woods, preferring drier conditions. It may be found in damper areas in woods in low-lying situations. This species has a less wide range than sweet violet (Viola odorata).
Our dogs enjoyed extended nap times today. The weather was great, but they could not be bothered to go out in the backyard. They did enjoy the walk and maybe all the sniffing knocked them out cold ;)
My Jupiter-3 lens arrived yesterday and I was eager to try it out with my X-T5. It is a Contax RF lens and adapters are not as easy to get as say a L39. I got mine from the Ukraine. It is a L39 adapter with an original Kiev mount attached to it. It works great and is much less expensive than the one I found from Kippon. There is one important thing to remember: there is no stop and one can easily unscrew the Contax/Kiev mount. I was told not more than two complete turns. On the plus side, I can focus closer.
Allowed me one shot and he took off with his signature straight (not curved) proboscis still extended.
