"Double O", Zilvinas Kempinas (2008). Deux bandes magnétiques roulent en apesanteur, maintenues en équilibre par le souffle de deux ventilateurs positionnés l'un vers l'autre. C'est simple. C'est spectaculaire et c'est sans doute la plus belle pièce de l'exposition Dynamo, présentée en ce moment au Grand Palais. La grande exposition Toutânkhamon revient à Paris, 100 ans après la découverte du tombeau du Pharaon par Howard Carter et Lord Carnarvon et 50 ans après sa 1ère présentation en 1967 alors qu'elle fut la plus visitée en France. En 2019, plus de 150 objets originaux sont montrés dans une scénographie inédite et immersive. C'est la dernière fois que ces joyaux sont visibles en dehors des frontières égyptiennes. RDV du 23 mars au 15 septembre à La Villette à Paris.

As the first sign reads:
1893 World's Columbian Exposition Wagon
The Studebaker Manufacturing Company had this wagon specially made for the World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893. It cost the company $2,110 when a standard farm wagon cost $130. The box is made of Brazilian rosewood and inlaid with 35 medals awarded to the company starting in 1852. The inscription on the box is in raised gold letters and the sections are outlined with decorative holly wood. The tires are made of ash wood and burnished steel. All the remaining metal parts (bolts, nuts, screws, rods, clips, braces, chains, and nails) are made of pure aluminum, a precious metal in 1893.
The vehicle has been on display at expositions around the country and at the Studebaker museum since its creation in 1893.
Conservation treatment:
- Surface clean and consolidate all painted metal surfaces.
- reduce the darkened yellow varnish on both wood and metal surfaces.
- re-adhere loosened inlays and fabricate missing inlays and brass castings.
- apply a reversible synthetic varnish to all metal surfaces.
Treatment cost: $36,000

1893 Columbian Exposition Aluminum Wagon
Studebaker craftsman built this farm wagon for display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The box is made of rosewood and inlaid with medals Studebaker won at earlier fairs and expositions. With the exception of the tires, all metal on the wagon is aluminum - a precious metal in the late 1890s.
