A trip down to Meadfoot beach earlier today to do some LE work. Here are some of the rocks that are exposed then the tide is low.

I exposed for the cloud on one of the sunniest days we have had in a long time, then adjusted the exposure of the foreground. Sky is pretty much as shot.
Current low water levels on the St. Lawrence River near Croil Island south of Ingleside exposes many tree stumps. These trees were cut prior to Inundation Day, July 1, 1958, before the area was flooded as a result of the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
the background is actually just a product of a snowy cornfield and some pretty harsh sunlight.
I never do stuff like this, but I think experimenting is the best way to learn so bear with me.

I love living by this river.
I have loved its high, swirling, muddy waters,
its force flooding the banks,
its fish that swim along the waters edge,
its shroud of fog,
its steep banks that cave and crumble,
its reflection of the northern lights,
its ice flowers forming on a frigid day,
its pristine cool water that expose the rocks below.

This concrete block which looks like it came from a lookout bunker has been exposed on the beach at Sizewell, with all the bad weather the beach has changed dramatically

The main section of Newcastle Beach, with the heritage Ocean Baths in the far distance. The beach has recently been eroded by storm waves, leaving a thin concentration of dark, heavy minerals. This is a common post-storm phenomenon on Australia's East Coast, many localities having been mined for quite rich concentrations of these minerals in the 1960s and early 70s.
Usually the bedrock is covered up with soil from decomposing plants and weathered rocks however occasionally the landscape is such that the bedrock is exposed. I like to use the term outcrop to describe this phenomena. Outcrops tell a story. what kind of rock it is, how the layers have been deformed, etc. The rocks in the photo are from a place called castle rock which is part of a boy scout camp north of Fredicktown MO.
