The exposed upper floors of the holdout building that Macy's is built around at the corner if Sixth Avenue and 34th Street. The big red Macy's shopping bag billboard, which had been in place since 1963 was removed over the past few days. In 2021 the building owner was planning to replace the Macy's ad with, perhaps, one of a rival online retailer but it is unknown if that is still going to happen.

The lack of light and egress in case of a fire means the upper floors of the five story building has to remain vacant. The lower floors have always been occupied, first by Nedick's, an early fast-food chain best known in northeastern US cities, and, since the 1980s a Sunglass Hut.

Low light and thick timber filled with brambles are the name of the game when you photo bucks in the Cross Timbers of Oklahoma. Even in the rut, they don't like to expose themselves. If they come into the open to approach a doe, they are normally on the move and don't provide standing shots. Surprised this shot turned out at 1/80 and the buck on the move. My lens was wide open.

A walk up to Bleaklow yesterday with the intention of shooting Over Exposed.

Such a sombre feeling as you crest the hill and this appears before you. I expected to see more over a wide area but I expect its mostly been robbed by treasure seekers.

The Superfortress took off on the morning of 3 November 1948, at around 10.15 from Scampton, Lincolnshire for Burtonwood USAF base, near Warrington, England. It was a routine flight with 2 other aircraft, the RB29 carrying USAF wages among other things. The crew were due to return to the States a few days later.

When ‘Over Exposed!’ failed to arrive at Burtonwood, an air search was initiated and that afternoon the burning wreck was spotted high on the moors near Higher Shelf Stones. By chance members of the Harpur Hill RAF Mountain Rescue Unit were just finishing an exercise two and a half miles away, so they quickly made their way to the scene of the crash but there was clearly nothing that could have been done for any of the crew.

All 13 men on board had been killed instantly when the aircraft flew into the moor. It is not known why Captain Tanner did not fly at a height sufficient to clear the high ground.

‘Over Exposed!’ was a photo reconnaissance aircraft – hence the name – and had photographed some of the nuclear bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean and had taken part in the Berlin airlift.

Ice-Exposing Scarps by UAHiRISE (NASA)

There are steep scarps facing the poles of both hemispheres that expose thick (up to 100 meters or more) sections of nearly pure water ice.

This is a valuable resource for future settlers on Mars, if that happens.
