P611 aka The Chairman train crossing over Westport Road in West Vancouver

GMD FP7A CP 4069 getting a workout on the E&N

A scene not likely to happen again, CP (WCXX) 4069 and BCR (BCOL) 4625 which have crossed paths in the last 25 years meet up once again in Squamish, BC during the West Coast Railway Associations Polar Express Event. Interesting side note I had my PGE Airtime K5H on 4069 while 4625 had its Airtime K5L making for some nice sounding horns that afternoon.

A distorted Full Harvest Moon sets over a cargo ship floating on English Bay and soon disappears behind Vancouver Island. Do you think a full moon triggers strange behavior? Does it transform some humans into werewolves or vampires? Is there a football field on that ship? 😜 Captured during this morning blue hour from the sandy shore of English Bay Beach, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ~ October 5, 2017 😜

The first rays of sunshine hit the fresh snow on the #BritishProperties in West Vancouver. That little bump with snow covered trees is high above the south west corner of Capilano Lake. Snow capped Crown Mountain is in the distance. Captured Wednesday morning from the highest spot in Stanley Park with breathtaking views at Prospect Point in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ~ February 14, 2018 ❄❄

I've been wanting to take a photo like that for a while. For years, I had seen those foggy photos of Vancouver, without even having an opportunity to get out there and take it when the moment was right. I wouldn't say the moment was perfect when I was there, as the fog was pretty thin and only covered parts of the landscape well enough and only for very short amounts of time. But I'm happy with that one shot I got.

I have to confess, it is heavily processed. I used 8 shots to reduce the noise, and the stars come from a stock image with open source license (very heavily modified). I really wanted to capture them myself, using the same focal length I used for the landscape (135mm) and pointing the camera towards the same direction as the shot was taken to make it "astronomically accurate". But I don't foresee any time soon when I'll be able to. The conditions probably won't be right for a little while, and my schedule is too busy for me to go out at night again for a long time. I wish I had more time to shoot.

As for those who might worry that the photo is a composite, I want to tell you that I wanted to create an image, above anything else. Yes, that night, I could see the stars. But I didn't have enough space in my bag to bring my tracker. So while the exact image is not 100% accurate to what I saw on that night, it's the general idea that matters to me and I want to be open about it. My intention is not to deceive anyone.

Hiking the Stanley Glacier trail yesterday in Kootenay National Park, BC

Got to use the Smooth water App on my camera.

Storm clouds approaching on the West Opabin Trail in Yoho National Park. Lucky the rain didn't hit the area when I was hiking there. Sun light breaking through the clouds hitting the Wiwaxy Peaks.

Hope you like it!
