The THEMIS VIS camera contains 5 filters. The data from different filters can be combined in multiple ways to create a false color image. These false color images may reveal subtle variations of the surface not easily identified in a single band image. Today's false color image shows part of Arabia Terra. Arabia Terra is one of the oldest surface regions on Mars and contains a large variety of features. This image is located east of Mawrth Valles.
The THEMIS VIS camera is capable of capturing color images of the Martian surface using five different color filters. In this mode of operation, the spatial resolution and coverage of the image must be reduced to accommodate the additional data volume produced from using multiple filters. To make a color image, three of the five filter images (each in grayscale) are selected. Each is contrast enhanced and then converted to a red, green, or blue intensity image. These three images are then combined to produce a full color, single image. Because the THEMIS color filters don't span the full range of colors seen by the human eye, a color THEMIS image does not represent true color. Also, because each single-filter image is contrast enhanced before inclusion in the three-color image, the apparent color variation of the scene is exaggerated. Nevertheless, the color variation that does appear is representative of some change in color, however subtle, in the actual scene. Note that the long edges of THEMIS color images typically contain color artifacts that do not represent surface variation.

Exploration
After the aquarium, we headed back to our hotel. Anna was wiped out. Curtis was already there by the time we got back, so everybody had a rest. Within 10 minutes, Anna and Curtis were totally asleep, so Dominic and I went out to find a grocery store to get a few snacks. HEB was literally around the corner, so as we pulled into the parking lot, we looked around hoping to find some froyo for a tiny treat before dinner. Shh, we never told sister or daddy. Teehee! We drove a couple of blocks away to this area called Hughes Landing which reminds me of the Domain in Austin. It was a mixture of restaurants, retail, and residential apartments. We found some froyo and walked down to the lake to enjoy it. Unfortunately it was terrible froyo, so we threw it away (gasp!) and just enjoyed the scenery. What a beautiful place! Whenever you travel, take an extra hour to explore the area. You never know what you will find!
After a few consecutive visits of Lapland, Sweden it became clear throughout the spring 2021 that we are about to change the destination - from all the options we considered, Iceland finally came out as the clear winner thanks to its predictable covid-related entrance policy and its high adventure potential which the country keeps steadily.
With a few pals in our group who have never been to Iceland, it was obvious we have to choose a destination which will show off the land of fire and ice at its very best.
Having that in mind, it was then pretty straightforward to plan the trail across the Fjallabak nature reserve (colourful rhyolite hills) and the adjacent Vatnajökull national park (Mars-like landscape of black sand and green moss).
We planned the journey from Landmannahellir to Langisjór, with the aim to show all the highlights and stunning beauty of the nature reserve/national park yet to keep the wandering off the beaten path i.e. to avoid overcrowded areas and points of interests of organised tourist groups.
In its place, restaurants, a movie theater, a senior living space and more will sit where Crestwood Court called home for 59 years.
Living in an urban area, it is quite easy to do urban exploration. We came across this massive piece of plumbing during a walk in an old shipping and warehouse district near home.
This is a dry standpipe. Its purpose was to provide an easily accessible point for firefighters to hook up their tankers and pumpers to a distribution system that is built into the building. This way, water can get to upper floors quickly without the need to drag and secure heavy hoses up several flights of stairs. Because the built-in piping goes directly up to the floors, there is less resistance due to shorter lengths and fewer bends. Not needing to lay hose keeps the stairways clear for evacuation of building occupants, if necessary.
It is common to see Siamese, or twin, standpipes on the sidewalks outside of buildings. This standpipe services a huge warehouse at the former Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, NJ (MOTBY) which required at least six tankers to hook up.
From the looks of the burst pipe at the top right, it is no longer in use.
High school and university students competed in the 2018 Human Exploration Rover Challenge event at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Students came from across the U.S. as well as several foreign countries such as Brazil, Germany, India, and Mexico. This event, which is normally a 2 day event, was shortened to 1 day in 2018 due to adverse weather conditions.

The chassis with steering is based on 6895 Spy Trak.
The rover is equipped with two scanning devices in the front and a claw and a laser in the back.
The crew consists of a driver and two scientists.
