Lake Superior & Ishpeming Alco RSD-15 No. 2405 heads an eastbound "Hill Job," waiting to depart Eagle Mills, MI on Sept. 8, 1986. The "Alligators" have always been one of my very favorite locomotives and I was happy to get the opportunity to expereince them on the Upper Peninsula.

I composed this photograph while walking in some woodlands during a recent visit to Alberta Canada's Kananaskis Country (K-Country), a vast wilderness and recreational area west of Calgary. Calm, quiet, colourful. An expereince in "forest bathing."

A small herd of bison decided to walk down the road in Yellowstone, causing a huge traffic jam. They can be bad tempered, so when they get this close it can be a touchy expereince even when inside a car. When someone's dog started barking they got very nervous but continued on their stroll.

The Torino Snack Bar is VERY busy during the day. I had lunch here is 2019 - the place was packed but the service was fast. The square had a feeling of being in a larger busier city than I've expereinced elsewhere in Venice over the years. It was quite interesting.

Yes, to walked around all day long burnt life anergy, so it time to rest awhile...

Thank you to share expereince through your artwork world is so wide to share about:)

The Project of "Aqua Alta" designed by a group of people, through an active participatory expereince, has developed a conceptual and structural idea in which water is the lelment of identity (Paraguay, in Guarani means"water that runs towards the sea") furthermore, it is the element that makes the structure possible, supporting it with its own weight. The form is a consequence of the constructive and structural logic. Equilibrium theories and the way in which weight is transmitted as a force to the ground are the basis of the design. The construction itslef is the project. (note from the catalogue)

Of course, one of the main legitimate functions of thought has always been to help provide security, guaranteeing shelter and food for instance. However, this function went wrong when the principal source of insecurity came to be the operation of thought itself. (- David Bohm)

So here we all are, still in our matrix that we expereince as our "own" life, limited to 3 dimensions, lending parts of the same energy. Are we not the same?

Today is R U Ok day so...

I am in an great deal of pain today. It seems any sign of stress and it goes from bad to extreme. I headed out this morning anyway. It is amazing how I leave my prison cell of a unit and immediately feel better.

Ive been reflecting on how I have been treated over the last few years. Some of the horrid things that I have experienced no human being should ever go through.

Dirty looks at a church and looks from an uber goober that if looks could kill you would be dead 3 times before you hit the ground.. If thats an elder I want no part of it. I struggle and those expereinces made things so much worse.

I forgive but at times when the pain is so bad all I can do is scream it is hurtful still to think back and remember how I tried to have a new support network behind me.

I am not ok but I have learned that I wont get the truth in certain things for some reason and accept it.. I will let the Judge deal with that when he returns soon.

Anyway ,

Look at this amazing thing!!!

Have a nice day

Well what do you know! Another new image, all far too much excitement at once, certainly not used to this...

Myself and Mike Muddyboots decided to head up to the Lakes for the day, the weather hadn't looked great but at least there was some rain so there fore there would be clouds and not boring old plain blue skies like we have sadly had so much of of late, the idea was to look for breaks in the weather, scope a few places out, and I could also fly my drone at a couple of locations if the weather allowed.

After the unique expereince of sitting outside a pub in Boot eating steak pie, Chips, and Veg in the rain with no shelter we headed over to Hardknott Fort and Wasdale.

I'd been meaning to shoot this little boathouse for a while, and whilst the weather didn't look the best I just wanted to go and have a look for a return visit so we took the walk in, upon arrival the colours that were there were extremely vivid Spring Greens, absolutely superb, I've actually had to reduce the yellows a little from what was captured to stop them appearing illuminous!

The rain had stopped but the water was far from still, every now and again it would get close but then just ripple up again, I set up and flew the drone for a while while somebody 'rested' off their Steak Pie on the riverbank, I just waited it out, I think we were here about an hour to an hour and a half and eventually got a nice still shot with light falling onto the vibrant foliage to the rear, along with a cloud laden sky, the underwater plants here are really interesting as well so I wanted to bring them into the shot.

A great day out and an image I'm pleased with as something different.

A few different expereinces from the summer, all in one.

Sadly, the cat has exterminated one of the chicks after a failed flight expereince.

The Torino Snack Bar is VERY busy during the day. I had lunch here is 2019 - the place was packed but the service was fast. The square had a feeling of being in a larger busier city than I've expereinced elsewhere in Venice over the years. It was quite interesting.

Here's the upper deck of 328 on her first afternoon in service and just look

at the clean red and blue floor here. What a marvellous site!

Step onto a new bus in Lothian today and you enter into a world of tartan - First

Minister Mr. Alec Salmond would surely approve and perhaps all that is

missing is the display of the Scottish saltire! My hands ran along the

surfaces as I breathed in the glorious aroma that seems exactly the same as

it was generations ago. Who could fail to enjoy this expereince? It felt

like I was like a wee lad again and it could have been 1969 once more.

This is not my favorite shot from the long weekend of shooting in the Gorge. However, it was the craziest journey I've expereinced to get some shots.

You can not even see this falls unless you climb over a huge pile of old downed trees. Once you make it to the other side, you still can't see the falls. You're in a deep narrow canyon, and are hoping that at the end is a fantastic waterfall.

The trek is under way. There is about ankle deep water everywhere. It's chilly but not too painful. Then the short section that Stephen warned about (more like mentioned casually ;) "just a short section of waist deep water". Burrrr it was super chilly & seemed a bit longer than mentioned. :P

Then you see it.... this fantastic high flowing beauty named Oneonta falls.

Really glad I made the effort to experience this & would do it again tomorrow!

Have your own awesome experience with Stephen & Brian www.apertureacademy.com

Winter

March 10-18th 2013

Inspired to look back on some previous winters I found a bunch of images that I have never posted before and a few I might have but give a good overall impresson of Poznan covered in snow from the 10th to the 18th of March 2013.

Its not too often that I spend much time going back through my catalog of images, but today I did and seeing all of the spots where i stood waiting for a tram to pass or a person to cross the street brought back a lot of fun memories of schlepping several bags down to Bigfoot Coffee Shop while trying to keep one hand free for the camera. :) Even today, I am still amazed that I managed to do this everyday for years...and in such conditions!

This was my second "Polish Winter" and the first one where we had Bigfoot Coffee Shop to tend to. Coming from Seattle, I had never had expereince in winters like this. Sure, I had traveled to places to enjoy winter, ski, hike and so on, but I had never "lived" in weather like this. Plus, everyday in the coffee shop I was entertained with all kinds of stories of how terrible the winter is here that it fortified and instilled in me a kind of extra layer of cold. Winter mesmerized me with its differences and I would spend far longer than I should have trying to capture what I saw which meant going back inside once my hands were frozen solid.

So...enjoy a little look back on Poznan today with me. :) I hope you enjoy them.

Yesterday, knowing I would be shooting at night I strung a hammock and took a nap here in the afternoon. This was a spot I found while exploring with my friend Danny. It will forever be known as napster point. We went back late last night and shot MW shots. Ran into my friend Andrew over at "the tree"... it was sort of crowded so Danny, Andrew and I went back to Napster point... hung out, and shot a few shots. Nothing special other than the expereince of sitting out enjoying dark skies with friends. And that doesn't suck.

52 Weeks: Week 28: Let this story teach you a little something........

Ive been called a nigger 3 times in my life.

Please don't be surprised, I live in the south and know plenty of individuals who have been berated with this word on and off for their whole existence. I bring this up because the 3rd time happened just this past week and the result of that has finally resonated in the body of my photostream ( as bad expereinces often do)

Let me please explain that if you are offended by the N word I am not including it here to shock or offend I am writing the word because it is VERY real to me and by saying "The N Word" instead of nigger, well you wont get quite the same impact of being called this word. 3 times is way to much for one lifetime.

So I would love of course to say that every single time I have been called this word I have kept my head up, rolled my eyes and moved on knowing perfectly well that I am glorious in my own right. Well that would be a big lie. The first time it happened I was 8 and was called this by a coach at a softball game that me and my brother watched on the grass of a public park. I knew what the word meant and I cried about it because I let the coach's hate for the color of my skin seep into my mind to rapidly remind me "there is something wrong with you" The ugliness of that incident is still with me because no one could really explain to me then why that coach hated me so....

The second time I was called that name was in college at a frat party. That incident went a little bit differently than the first resulting in me and my girlfriend cussing out 3 drunk frat pricks in the middle of their front yard.... But see even in all my grown up valor, I was still affected by the word being used to describe me, but instead of tears I used four letter words to express that same feeling that I had when I was 8 sitting on that grass with my big brother....

Last Sunday I was called nigger while driving on Capital boulevard. I was sitting at a light with my window down agonizing at being late to a friends house when I look to my left at a man staring at me in the eye from his car, dead center, he stared at me, through me almost. He looks at me and whispers that word, motioning it with his lips to emphasize the fact that he hated me because I sat beside him on that busy street in my Camry and my skin being these dark shades of ebony..

I am older now of course, I am a mother and can recognize pure ignorance where present... I moved ahead when the light turned green and kept on. I have thought of this incident many times since only to realize the strong person that I have become. I am proud of who I am and refuse to shudder under the heavy weight of that word or any other word.

On this 28th Week, I do a simple head shot because I keep my head up steadily. I am proud of the texture of my hair, the fullness of my lips and the extraordinary dark shades of my luminous skin..... Love me or hate me, I am me and that is something to be damn proud of.................

Here a still from The Children's hour (1961), a film that depicts a romantic relationship between two women and the tragic end they face as a result of their sexuality, is juxtaposed with an image of Xena and her sidekick Gabrielle in a warm embrace. A portrait of the artist as a young girl at lower right references her own expereince within the narrative of lesbian relationships in popular culture.

Yup, I did it again. This time it's the Copenhagen Metro system, which - being steered by a computer rather than humans - gives you a nice front seat expereince.

Challenger homeward-bound! UP 3985 creeps west on the last leg of the "Missouri River Eagle" tour.

Unfortunately, this monster was only doing maybe 10mph here running on the heels of a manifest, although you can't really tell that from the photo. I was hoping for some track speed action to compare with my expereince of the UP 844, but with this being one of the last times this unit ran the mains, I'll take what I can get! Prior to this move, the UP 3985 hadn't been out since 2008, and from what I can find online, it doesn't look like she'll be out for quite some time! So it was totally worth burning a day of leave to head up to Cheyenne to grab a couple of shots.

This train was running late, but I was able to pass the time by shooting a string of westbounds. I was surprised there wasn't more "foam" action here like I experienced earlier in the year when UP 844 headed east, but I certainly wasn't complaining...

Yum! One of the best taste expereinces I've ever had

An experience unlike any other I've had. [understatement]

A wide angle photo of totality taken along the Snake River on the OR/ID border. This is a composite of seven exposures: 4s, 2s, 1s, 1/2s, 1/4s, 1/8s, 1/15s.

Of course, I took a telescope for a closer view, too ... and yes, I have a square crop.

This one will be interesting to watch the hits based on some of the tags alone ... ( O . o )

Sand dunes, warmth and a incredible sunset to finish the day... In photojournalistic style- I've uploaded (38) new photos of the area "Mojave National Preserve".... these include a magical expereince in Cinder cones Lava tubes/ cones and "moo'ing" kelso sand dunes when the moisture in the sand is right... Be sure to stop for lunch at Kelso Depot, the old Train station off Kelbaker road for lunch...

Since the beginning of pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong, most of the Hong Kong people watch the real-time live video shoot by online media.

I am old school, I still read the news report in words most of the time. It is great to see things happening right at the scene. But at the same time you can only have one viewpoint and it is very time consuming if you want to know what is happening in different places in the day.

News coverage by writing is able to summarise expereinces of different people in the scene.

Wish you a great day!

We were in for a big surprise this week as this is Champi's first expereince with the snow! Living in Dallas, I never thought she would have this much snow to experience, let alone how long it has lasted. Champi really comes alive in the snow, She is playful and definitely right at home. Actually, her first experience with the snow, she was quite cautious...but now, she can't wait to play!

When we came to Mount Baker looking for the lake scene, it was all covered by snow.

The expereince reminds me the quotes I read in the book "Perception and Imaging: Photography - A Way of Seeing".

"Look for what you don't see." - Rashid Elisha

"Why assume that to look is to see." - Pablo Picasso

At the end I took a minimalism shot in the snow covered parking lot.

Have a great Tuesday!

Just talked to my daughter about portrait photography and that not only young people are good as models - very old people with their experience and their wrinkled faces can make amazing portraits!

I often prefer portraits of really old people :-)

Here´s an old, but expereinced, flower :-)

With one of the first sunny days in ages I popped down to Birling Gap with my partner. The wind was absolutely incredible, one of the strongest gales I've expereinced at that location and it made for some beautiful images. Although trying to stay still was a bit of a mission!

A closer look.

Tusker at Mudumalai Wildlife Santuary, Tamil Nadu, India

This Indian elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) is a tusker. Tusker are elephants with large 'tusks', like this one. Tusks are in fact teeth! It is rare to see these brilliant tuskers in the wild due to poaching for their ivory and loss of habitat. Within a space of few decades, these animals have been reduced in number. My uncles (who were legendary in their pursuit of fun and the good times) used to tell me numerous stories of their expereince in the jungles of South India from over half century ago; including their many encounters with wild tuskers. I have only their stories to go by now, for all my time in the forests I have yet to see a majestic tusker like this. Now, many of these tuskers are relegated to the temples of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

This friendly tusker can be found at the elephant work camp in Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary (in the north west part of Tamil Nadu along the border with Kerala). Elephant rides are provided for tourists in the morning and evening into the forest. It is unlikely you will see any wildlife while on these elephants; for better wildlife viewing opportunities one must go on dusk & dawn van rides, that are organized by the government, into restricted trails in the jungle. The elephant 'workcamp' employs tribals from the local area. When I got on one of these elephants, I shot question after question to the friendly mahout: Have you seen a tiger? Do you think we can see a tiger today? What are the chances of seeing a tiger today? Whoa, it will be so cool to see a tiger this morning right? He answered them patiently one after the other; he must have had experience with 'hyperactives'.

Then he told me a story of how long back one of the elephants carrying tourists got spooked by a wild elephants and suddenly decided to do a 50 meter dash -- along with the now-not-so-camera-happy tourists on his back. That episode, he told me, ended with a crushed leg for one (as the device people sit on came crashing down) and three other shaken, suddenly-religious, tourists. My questions to the mahout stopped immediately --as one couldn't ask questions and pray profusely at the same time. I asked good lord to resicnd my earlier request to see a wild elephant or a tiger for that matter; nothing that would spook the elephant. My prayers were answered: no wild elephants, no tigers and an uncrushed , perfectly working legs. What more can anyone want from a safari!:)

More pics later.

I am a bit feeling in love the moving action of this bug,, actually I know from expereinces taken bugs and butterflies photo.. when they sattle down in there landing place..they started to take turn in a rounding circle...that is there we go.. we can take time to photography them with out worry them to fly away us...this bug, he did the same... what a cute..haa.. unfortunately I did not took the tripod with me.. and canon 70d was so haevy for me to handle so long .... busy on the focus and the sun too strong.. that the best I can do from light room as well .. ha ha.at my .backyard..

It was a cloudless sunset at Kimmeridge of Dorset's Jurassic coast, so I stuck around after everyone left for a bit of astrophotography.

This was taken with the last light of the twilight. It was already dark enough to make it very tricky to be on this ledge as the tide was rising fast. Stars were just beginning to show up. You can just see venus (and mars if you look carefully) on the right side of the frame above the lights of Portland.

I am running an astrophotography workshop in Cyprus this summer. We'll have the opportunity to photograph the amazing night sky and the Perseids Meteor shower in a beautiful Mediterranean landscape.

If you want to join me for this unique expereince, you can find more information about the workshop here:
