Glamorous 'Still Life' in the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria tempting the senses.

A colourful display of luscious fruit and exotic specialities in Barcelona's most famous public market.

I dub it "The Stand of Plenty" proportionally to "The Horn of Plenty".

Isn't it a true pleasure for the senses ?

La Boqueria boasts over 200 stalls selling all kinds of fresh food, from various sorts of fish and seafood to fresh-garden fruits and vegetables,meats,dairy,spices,and flowers,it reminded me of Harrod's motto,somehow :

"Omnia Omnibus Ubique" - "All things for all people,everywhere.".

The indoor market,once an open-air market,dates back long before 1217,when locals were already selling meat by the gate of the city.

I have just seen nor is it tasted .

I love fruits and I do try to eat them everyday. Now is the star fruit season and they are so sweet, crunchy and juicy ... so it's difficult not to eat them. There are two kinds of star fruits - acidulant and sweet, both rich in vitamin C. (note: the above over-ripe star fruit was lied on the ground near the tree. The bright lighting from the sunshine I think created a great BG for this photo.)

This is my second serious attempt at textures...they are addictive :-)

I had a wonderful time visiting family in Maine. The blueberries were amazingly abundant. I'm planning an orgy of pigging out on homemade muffins, pancakes, and pie!

there is an old joke, "what is black and white and red all over?"

The answer is last weeks newspaper and "red" spelled as "read"

.....anyway Dragon fruit is a suitable alternative answer now.

It is also also known as pitaya or strawberry pear.

About once a year I impulse buy one of these. I cant say that I love the taste. It is OK but they just look so ridiculously cool, that it is hard not to be tempted to put one in the trolley.

It is the fruit of a cactus of various species in the genera Selenicereus or Stenocereus.

This one was pretty sweet compared to some I have eaten.
