Green-veined white butterfly [Pieris napi] on a Pearl Bush [Exochorda Niagara]
Recently, we’ve been excavating part of the formerly “wild” garden to make a new seating/flowering garden. I had just bought and planted this beautiful shrub and the butterflies have been very appreciative.

'The Bride' of parelstruik

I was under the impression that this was the Jasminum (Yasmin), but I found out that it was wrong :-)
'The Bride' or pearl bush
Exochorda x macrantha 'The Bride' or pearl shrub blooms with pure white flowers in the period April-June.
As an ornamental shrub, Exochorda x macrantha 'The Bride' grows to about 160 to 180 cm high and usually about 200 cm wide. The branches overhang strongly and this sometimes creates a waterfall of white flowers.
After flowering, Exochorda x macrantha 'The Bride' forms decorative star-shaped fruits.

Parelstruik (Exochorda macrantha 'The Bride')

I have already spotted a few blossom trees here, but with all that rain and strong wind here it will not really work, therefore just a spring's bloomer of last year
(Exochorda macrantha 'The Bride')
Exochorda is a small genus of flowering plants in the family Rosaceae, native to China and central Asia (Turkestan). They are used as ornamental plants with the common name pearl bush, or pearlbush. Numerous species have been described on the basis of differing appearance and geographical separation, but a systematic study revealed that the different types are closely related and probably all descended from a single species that formerly had a wide distribution that has been fragmented by habitat loss. As a single species the correct name is E. racemosa
Exochorda racemosa, pearlbush or common pearlbush, is a species of plant in the rose family. This species is mostly found in China and Japan.
