An aircraft with a long history.
First flown with the Boeing test registration N1787B, this aircraft was ordered for delivery to Sabre Airways (UK) as G-OKJW. However, Sabre had been renamed Excel Airways prior to delivery.
It was delivered to ILFC as and leased to Excel Airways as G-XLAE in Mar-01. It was due for summer lease to Air-Berlin as D-ABAA but the registration wasn't used and just two days after delivery the aircraft was wet-leased to Air-Berlin. It returned to Excel Airways in Nov-01.
The aircraft was wet-leased to Air Berlin again in Oct-02 and returned to Excel Airways in Apr-03. In Dec-04 it was wet-leased to Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter (Canada) and returned to Excel Airways in May-05.
The aircraft was leased to Sunwing Airlines (Canada) as C-FTAE between Dec-05/May-06. On it's return it was fitted with blended winglets. Excel Airways became XL Airways UK in Nov-06.
It was sub-leased to Sunwing Airlines as C-FTAE in Dec-06. It was sub-leased back to XL Airways UK in May-07, operated by Sunwing. It returned to Sunwing in Nov-07. The sub-lease to XL Airways UK was repeated in May-08. However, on 11-Sep-08 XL Airways UK ceased operations. Sunwing returned the aircraft to the lessor and it was stored at Lake City, FL, USA.
It was re-registered N171LF in Oct-08. The aircraft was leased to Viking Airlines as SE-RHR in Dec-08. it was wet-leased to Travel Service Airlines (Czechia) between Jun/Oct-09 and sub-leased to Sunwing Airlines as C-FTAE between Dec-09/May-10 when it returned as SE-RHR.
Viking Airlines ceased ops in Oct-10, just as it was about to lease the aircraft to Sunwing again for the winter. It was returned to the lessor and leased direct to Sunwing as C-FTAE in Nov-10 and returned to the lessor as N281LF in Mar-11 when it was stored at Miami, FL, USA.
In May-11 the aircraft was leased to Sun Country Airlines (USA) and re-registered N816SY in Jun-11. Current, updated 08-May-22.
