The Excel livery most definitely suits the autumn season, the colour almost matching the gold leaves which are beautifully seen on the trees in Phoenix Way, Village Quarter, Portishead.
These early Excels aren't anywhere near as common as the later more rounded Excel, which was a huge seller in Australia. Normally when I see these they are the hatchback version, this is the much less common sedan version. In fact I can't even remember seeing a sedan version before the day this photo was taken, but no doubt I will see a dozen or so in the next week.
This blandly-named bar/pub is near the western entrance to the ExCeL centre. Again, very difficult to get a decent photo...

Taken after we had watched the Women's Team Foil at London 2012.
The Royal Victoria Dock is dominated by the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, constructed on the north quayside and opened in November 2000. This is where we were for the Women's Team Foil event. For the 2012 Summer Olympics, ExCeL London was divided into five sports halls with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 that were used for boxing, fencing, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Salute, one of the largest wargames events in Britain was held on Saturday at Excel London. The event attracted more than 6000 UK wargamers, military modellers and re-enactors of all ages and featured table-top wargames based on many periods in world history.

As well as table-top wargames there were re-enactors from the Zulu War, Elizabethan period and even a Lara Croft look-a-alike. There were some real military vehicles including Fox and Ferret armoured cars and remote-control model tanks in huge 1/4 and 1/6 scale. Truly these were big boys' toys!
Although not popular with all operators of the type, Blackpool Transport seem to like their Excels. Nine were delivered new in 1999, followed in later years by some acquisitions from Go-Ahead and Reading. I liked the looks of the Excel from the start and they still look attractive to me.
213 (T213HCW) from Blackpool's 1999 delivery is seen (with route branding now removed) parked on ground away from the depot during the Open Day last September.

Travel West Midlands Optare Excel 705 (S705 YOL) seen on a Sunday working of the 254, where Excel's were used instead of the usual B10B's. 705 is seen in Merry Hill Bus Station.
